We had an outstanding visit to Yuma Proving Grounds with our future Soldiers and the San Luis EMS class. They got a firsthand look at how the clinic operates, explored advanced medical equipment, and even checked out a HH-60M Black Hawk helicopter up close. Experiences like this give a real-world glimpse into military medicine and the opportunities ahead.

The Yuma Recruiting Station was proud to sponsor Yuma Fighting League 8 this Saturday and host an information table for community members throughout the event. Our team had the privilege of meeting UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, as well as YFL Owner and fellow UFC Hall of Famer Kelvin Gastelum. The fights were action packed, the atmosphere was electric, and we truly enjoyed engaging with the local community. We highly encourage everyone to check out YFL at their next event.

The Yuma Recruiting Office had a strong presence at the MCAS Air Show this Saturday. SSG Montoya and SSG Gonzalez hosted an information table alongside several of our Future Soldiers, answering questions and engaging with community members throughout the event. We appreciate everyone who stopped by to learn more about the opportunities the U.S. Army offers.

This month we had the privilege of presenting appreciation plaques to some of our strongest community partners. Huge thanks to 4th Ave Gym, Yuma Donuts, and the Yuma Nursing Center for everything they do to support their local Army recruiters.

Their commitment to our Soldiers, our mission, and our community makes a real difference, and we’re grateful to have them in our corner.

PFC Pelroy, a proud native of Yuma, Arizona, enlisted last year as a 15Q Air Traffic Controller. When he first stepped into the process, he faced a challenge many recruits know all too well. He was overweight and needed to prove he had the drive to earn his place in the U.S. Army.

Through the Army’s Assessment of Recruit Motivation and Strength (ARMS) Program, he committed himself fully. He shipped out at 257 pounds, determined to make the most of the opportunity he fought for. By the time he completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, he had transformed, graduating at 203 pounds with a new level of confidence, discipline, and pride.

Now home in Yuma visiting family, PFC Pelroy is preparing for his next chapter. Soon, he’ll be heading to Germany, where he’ll continue serving his country and applying the same grit that carried him through his first year in uniform.

From the desert of Arizona to the skies of Europe, he’s just getting started.

Below is the link to his ABC News story.

U.S. Army soldiers assigned to the 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Air Assault), 11th Airborne Division, conduct unmanned aerial systems training during winter at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Jan. 26, 2026. “First-person view and other smart drones represent the way forward in the modern battlespace,” said Sgt. 1st Class Devin McNamara, assigned to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division. “They enable warfighters operating in Arctic conditions to cover more ground faster, equipped with sensors and strike capabilities that all soldiers should know how to employ.”

Shout out to 4P1U, who closed out the year number 1 in BN with 149% volume, 144% RA, and no reserve mission assigned. This office has accomplished something that hasn’t been done at this station in over 10 years.

Future soldiers were afforded the exciting opportunity to tour the Yuma Proving Grounds, where they observed some of the Army's latest testing equipment in action. However, due to the classification status of certain items, we are unable to share all of the photos captured during this remarkable experience.
