PFC Pelroy, a proud native of Yuma, Arizona, enlisted last year as a 15Q Air Traffic Controller. When he first stepped into the process, he faced a challenge many recruits know all too well. He was overweight and needed to prove he had the drive to earn his place in the U.S. Army.
Through the Army’s Assessment of Recruit Motivation and Strength (ARMS) Program, he committed himself fully. He shipped out at 257 pounds, determined to make the most of the opportunity he fought for. By the time he completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, he had transformed, graduating at 203 pounds with a new level of confidence, discipline, and pride.
Now home in Yuma visiting family, PFC Pelroy is preparing for his next chapter. Soon, he’ll be heading to Germany, where he’ll continue serving his country and applying the same grit that carried him through his first year in uniform.
From the desert of Arizona to the skies of Europe, he’s just getting started.
