Rachelle from the Community Readers Reading Challenge in Melbourne, VIC, Australia, sent a question-and-answer form for me to complete about my new book titled My Bible and Me, and here are a couple of questions from that form. Question 2
What ultimately inspired you to turn your decades of reflection on Scripture into a book?
Answer: Now, as an author preparing to write my seventh book, I found myself looking back upon that lifelong journey. This book, My Bible and Me, is my attempt to share a simpler understanding of the relationship between God's Word and my own life. It is not intended to be a theological study or a scholarly work. Rather, it is the story of one man's walk with the Bible and how its teachings shaped me through the years. I believe that people who know God and those who do not know God or his Son, if they read this book, will become more knowledgeable and hopefully accept his teaching with the help of this simplified version.
Question 3
Your book approaches the New Testament from a very personal perspective rather than as an academic theological study. Why was that distinction important to you?
Answer: I am in no way a theologian or Bible scholar, but someone who loves to read the bible upon occasion, looking for personal guidance and answers to life. So, when writing this book, I desired to make it informative and pleasing for the reader who was looking for the same thing. Available at
