Kimberly and I just completed 4 days of training sessions (across all 3 shifts) on Harassment, Workplace Violence, Conflict Resolution, and Generational Differences for a large Manufacturing company. The training went exceptionally well. We had 5 of their hourly employees tell us they “always look forward to our training”, and they “love our role plays.” Very gratifying feedback.
It is uncommon for hourly employees to look forward to training, especially harassment training, in fact recent surveys show many hourly employees would rather get a root canal than sit through most training. Why? Because the trainers can’t reach or relate to their audience, and they don’t come across as authentic. What can you do? Start by hiring trainers who understand their audience and have real world experience. Your people are worth it.
