Zapata Economic Development Corporation ZEDC, a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation, serves as the designated economic development entity for Zapata County, Texas.

The ZEDC will promote its vision for a better Zapata County, with collaboration and partnerships with private industry and public agencies that help us accomplish these outcomes for the community, by engaging in strategies and projects that:

- Expand and enhance the county's capacity to successfully support and serve entrepreneurs and new development;
- Attract and retain primary employers th

at offer competitive wages and benefits;
- Close the gaps between Zapata County's education attainment levels / pool of talent and the lack of local employment opportunities;
- Promote and support community achievement;
- Diversify the tax base to serve a growing population;
- Nurture existing Zapata County business enterprises in their operations and growth;
- Establish high standards for new development; and
- Aggressively promote Zapata County and Falcon Lake as the leader in economic development for the South Texas region. Our vision will be driven by creating opportunities for industrial, commercial, professional and business services, promoting the development of new commercial space, and the redevelopment and reuse of existing buildings and office space, leveraging existing economic assets-the county’s natural resources, and strengthening Zapata’s linkages to higher education.
