Some RE-TANS from Spain..Had absolutely ZERO STRETCH.. 2- ibex, and a Chamois cape

Iron somewhere in their process, weather it be tannage or salt, reacted with the pickle, and formed Iron tanate..(the black skins)

Charles Charles did his own research and figured out by using oxalic acid as a chelating agent, he could reverse the bond of the Iron tanate, and remove it from the skins all together!

All Iron removed, skins tanned again properly, with stretch and very little memory.

Iron tanate left in skins can eventually lead to rapid degradation of collagen, just fyi...

A couple of skins from a group of African Charles just tanned..
They are cutting everything from overseas entirely too long these days, imo.

Wolf...had to slow way down on this one! Very challenging to shave!
If you shave the wrong direction on something like this, you will lift up the "buds" , cut off the roots, and TRASH THE SKIN! All wolf are not the same.

Wet tan Mountain Lions getting groomed and boxed. One had a strange small area of solid white fur, about half the size of a dime.
Removing pine sap is a fairly common thing with Cats and Elk...

Shaved 9 mtn lions and a bear, among some other things today...another day, another dollar. 😀
