Who knew that a decision made by a 17 year old 21 years ago would be so auspicious?
I’m still in awe, that me, Yana from Brooklyn, was the Commencement Speaker at The West Virginia University College of Creative Arts and Media 2026 Graduation.
All glory to God, for consistently bestowing blessings upon me and giving me the ingrained grit to push even when no one understands the mission.
For so long I’ve been bringing my own seat to the table, showing up and making space. This weekend being honored & celebrated by a community that welcomed and loved me, helping to shape the woman I am was beyond words could articulate.
To my family & friends, thank you for supporting me near and far. My wins are our wins because I don’t walk this journey alone.
To my parents Pamela 💛 & the love and resilience you instilled in me was seen by the world. Thank you for along with , , & being my biggest cheerleaders.
thank you for supporting me and going along with my crazy antics of Parker and Tati
, , & the way you all showed up for me I cannot thank you each enough.
To everyone who sent me a video , , , , , Truck, & you helped me show why relationships matter.
To everyone who sent me a message, your words, your love fed my soul and it’s appreciated
Lastly to thank you, for loving this Kid from Brooklyn.
Signed,
