With the signing of their official contracts, our 2026–2027 Mr. and Miss University of the Virgin Islands contestants have taken an important step in a tradition that celebrates talent, leadership, and culture.

Join us on Saturday, April 4 at 6:00 PM at the Eldridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center for an evening highlighting the talent and excellence of our students.

We proudly sent off our Mister and Miss UVI ’25 to Charlotte, North Carolina, to represent the University of the Virgin Islands at the Mister & Miss HBCU Competition, being held on January 24, 2026 at 7 PM.

As they take the national stage, they’ll be representing excellence in intellect, poise, service, and HBCU pride. It was great to see their focus and excitement as they get ready for what’s ahead. Wishing them safe travels and the best as they represent UVI 💙.

I recently had the opportunity to tour UVI’s MacLean Marine Science Center on the OEK Campus, where I saw the state-of-the-art labs and research spaces and met the incredible team that plays an important role in maintaining the university’s marine and environmental programs. Senior Maura Richardson was my guide for the tour, showing me how the center supports UVI scientists and students working on marine ecology, coral and mangrove restoration, deep-reef ecosystems, sea turtle research, and robotics and AI in environmental studies.

Did you know?

Three scientists from UVI—Dr. Marilyn Brandt, Dr. Kristin Grimes, and Allie Durdall—were named among the top 22 ocean researchers in the country as 2024 Ocean Decade Champions for Groundbreaking Marine Research, inspiring the next generation of marine scientists right here in the Virgin Islands. 👩‍🔬🔬
