FDI attraction to hi-tech IP being boosted

The Da Nang Hi-tech Industrial Park (IP) has attracted 3 FDI projects. Two of them have already been put into operation - the 40 million USD electromagnetic switch valve manufacturing plant of Tokyo Keiki Precision Technology, and the 30 million USD engine casting plant of Niwa Foundry Viet Nam.

Projects for attracting more FDI revealed

The Da Nang People’s Committee recently approved a list of projects for attracting more FDI over the remaining months of this year. Appeals for FDI inflows into these projects will be made by the municipal Investment Promotion Centre.

The projects include the manufacture of spare parts used in electricity production systems from renewable energy, automatic machines, smart home and environmental remediation equipment, picture archiving and communication system (PACS) and other medical equipment, domestic and industrial effluent discharge systems, and high-end children’s toys.

In addition, investments will be encouraged for such projects as developing ecotourism in combination with applying hydroponic methods in growing safe vegetables, building international standard primary and senior high schools, high-quality vocational training schools, a 600-bed general hospital, a high-end trade centre complex, 5-star hotels, factories for lease by small and medium-sized businesses in local industrial parks, and sleep pods at Da Nang International Airport.

Adjustments made to Da Nang sustainable development project

The Prime Minister has approved adjustments concerning the project on sustainable development for Da Nang funded by World Bank loans.

According to the modified project, 78.8 million USD will be added to construction costs, of which 49.89 million USD will be used for improving the rain water and wastewater drainage system, increasing capacity of the Hoa Xuan wastewater treatment plant, and rain water and wastewater collection system for the eastern part of the city.

The city gained 75 tourism sector projects that have invested 8.7 billion USD, of which 1.7 billion USD were from 15 foreign direct investment projects.

The tourism industry of Da Nang this year hosted 4.6 million tourists, including 1.25 million foreigners, bringing 12.7 trillion VND (605 million USD) in revenue.
