According to statistics, Japan imported about 850,000 m3 of processed wood from Russia in 2021, accounting for nearly 20% of the total amount of processed wood imported by Japan.
After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Japanese wood market was also concerned about the possibility that Russian timber might be embargoed, and a number of Japanese businesses rushed to buy Russian wood.
