Disheartening as it is, it is not surprising to see the effectiveness of misogynistic efforts to push back against women in the workforce, fighting against efforts to add women and people of color to corporate boardroom--efforts which are challenged in court as being unfair to men(!)--(in spite of the fact that white men have historically held over 80% of all Board positions). In their campaign to take women back to their subordinate, subservient and dependent roles of the 19th century, their goal is to force women to stay at home, raise children (and certainly not have any choice in their procreation and be financially dependent on their husbands. (See Project 2025 for this and more). They reject efforts to provide for workers to receive paid family leave, childcare assistance and other programs that allow women to have the flexibility they need to be successful both at work and at home. Add to this the right-wing attacks on initiatives and programs to encourage diversity, equity and inclusion and the hate-filled, misogynistic rhetoric of a candidate for President and his minions, we find ourselves as a true cross-road: We must change this dialogue and replace it with policies and programs that call upon the promise of our nation that ALL who work hard, play by the rules and do their best, will have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. Hate and misogyny are not American values. ,
