Farewell, Vietnam! A Few Travel Tips to Share ✈️
Here are some tips to help future travelers:
✅ Skip Viator & TripAdvisor—Use Grab Instead
Don’t waste money on overpriced tours. Download Grab for taxis and buy tickets on arrival.
You can book a local driver and paid $80 for a full-day private tour to 7 locations. A similar tour would have cost $250+ and taken multiple days.
Some attractions are actually free to enter, despite third-party vendors charging online.
📶 Get an E-SIM with Airalo
Instead of buying a physical SIM card, download Airalo for a seamless eSIM experience.
🍏 Apple Users: Convert Currency with a Tap
Open the Calculator app, tap the bottom left button, enable "Convert," and select Vietnamese D**g for quick conversions.
🏮 Hoi An Deserves at Least 2 Days
If you only had one day in Hoi An and regretted not staying longer—it's stunning!
For the Lantern River Boat Ride, book on location or through Klook (I paid $5.85 via Klook).
🗣 Download Google Translate
Great for communication, plus it lets you snap a photo of menus and translate them instantly.
🙅♂️ Learn to Say "No, Thank You" in Vietnamese
In Ho Chi Minh City, street vendors approach often. If you firmly say “No, Thank You” (Không, cảm ơn!), they stop immediately.
💰 Tip Generously & Fairly
In Vietnam, tipping is not mandatory and usually depends on how satisfied you are with the service you receive. In restaurants or cafes, if you feel the service is good, you can tip around 5% to 10% of the bill or 10,000 to 50,000 VND.
⏰ Visit Marble Mountain Early!
Opens at 7 AM—arrive early to avoid crowds. By 11 AM, tour buses flood the area, and the narrow caves get overcrowded.
✨ These are just my suggestions—I hope they help!
