Ha Long Bay in the waters to the east of Northern Vietnam hosts over 1600 limestone islands that jet dramatically out of the water. Lined with caves, fishing villages, hiking trails through the jungle and sleepy vacation towns, this area is filled with natural wonder. Although Ha Long Bay is thronged with tourists, its neighbor, Lan Ha Bay is the quiet suburb next door to the bustling city that is Ha Long Bay.

A bustling metropolis in northern Vietnam, Hanoi is filled with rich smells, sounds of honking cars and street vendors selling everything from fruit to sunglasses. It is rumored that there are 6.2 million motorbikes in a city of just over 7 million, easily outnumbering cars 10 to one. Home of Bun Cha Hanoi (Hanoi style vermicelli with grilled pork), Cha Ca La Vong (Grilled fish served with vermicelli noodles, green onions, dill and peanuts), and a thriving cafe culture.

This UNESCO world heritage site nestled between two rivers, surrounded by lush mountains is a sleepy place where time seems to stand still. Silk weavings and hand-crafted paper lanterns decorate the local marketplaces. Monks dressed in saffron robes emerge from their monasteries every morning at dawn to ask for alms from the citizens of the town. There are boat races every year where the surrounding provinces compete to display their mastery of navigation on the Nam Khan River. There are also throngs of tourists from all over the world seeking to discover this unique place and its surrounding lush forests and waterfalls.
