What you’re looking at here comes from the Central Highlands of Vietnam, where communities such as the Jarai, Ede, and Bahnar maintain strong traditions of craft, music, and ancestor remembrance.

The large woven baskets are used for rice storage and ceremonial offerings.

The bronze gongs are part of a living musical tradition recognised by UNESCO.

The carved wooden figures are placed at grave sites, guiding and protecting the spirit of the deceased.

This is not “ancient history” — these traditions are still alive today.
This is a reminder that heritage isn’t only found in the ground. It continues in the hands of its people.

Participants of our 2025 field school in Suffolk excavating one of the sites ring ditches. Evidence uncovered has pushed back the date for this funerary monument. Well done, team.

Finally, we get a sandy site!

After weeks of battling clay, we're stripping back our latest site in Norfolk, and this one's playing nice (so far). Great conditions for machine work and fingers crossed for some decent archaeology beneath the surface.
