π»π³FOREIGNERS IN VIETNAM: IMPORTANT CHANGES TO ELECTRONIC IDENTIFICATION FROM SEPTEMBER 28, 2026π»π³
π Decree No. 320/2026/ND-CP takes effect on September 28, 2026, introducing important changes to electronic identification for foreigners in Vietnam.
πΉ EXPANDED ELIGIBILITY
From September 28, 2026, foreigners who legally enter or reside in Vietnam may apply for an electronic identification account upon request.
π A Temporary Residence Card (TRC) or Permanent Residence Card (PRC) is no longer required to be eligible.
πΉ APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Foreigners can apply at the Immigration Management Authority of the Provincial-level Police by:
β’ Presenting a passport or valid international travel document
β’ Providing the required information
β’ Having facial and fingerprint data collected
β’ Completing information verification with the National Immigration Database
πΉ PROCESSING TIME
β±οΈ Up to 02 working days if facial and fingerprint data is already available.
β±οΈ Up to 05 working days if the data is not yet available.
