In Đà Lạt, Vietnam, a 30-month pilot supported by Partners for Water shows how smarter water management can save up to 40% on fertiliser use and reduce water consumption by 35%.

Fresh Studio® led a Dutch–Vietnamese consortium — together with Ridder, Royal Brinkman, and HollandDoor — to introduce a closed-loop drain water system with UV disinfection, helping pepper growers in Đà Lạt capture and reuse nutrient-rich drain water that would otherwise be lost.

In substrate systems, 20–30% of irrigation water typically drains away. Without collection, that water – and the nutrients it contains – leaves the production cycle. By turning drain water into a resource, farmers reduce both environmental impact and production costs.

Building on this successful pilot, Fresh Studio and consortium partners now aim to see 2 to 5 additional growers adopt the system in the coming years. As René van Rensen explains: "If the results are clear and the system proves reliable, farmers will decide for themselves."

We are seeking a Corn Production Specialist to join our Crops team in the Central Highlands (Gia Lai, Dak Lak, or Lam D**g - former Dak Nong).

In this role, you will work directly with farmers, providing technical guidance, training, and practical solutions to improve both corn production and post-harvest management. You will also carry out field trials, collect and interpret data, and support the corn value chain by mapping current practices, addressing challenges, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in corn production and/or post-harvest management
- Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field (MSc is a plus)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English (both required)

The closing event, held on March 10, 2025, in Can Tho City, gathered key stakeholders, industry experts, and government representatives to reflect on the project’s achievements and discuss its enduring impact on the sector.
Two years may seem short, but the collective efforts of each actor in the value chain have yielded remarkable achievements. By placing capacity-building at the core and demonstrating the power of innovation, the project's impact is expected to extend far beyond its official timeline. The GIC Project Closing Event was not just an endpoint—it was a celebration of progress, a testament to collaboration, and a catalyst for the future of sustainable agriculture.
