YOU’RE INVITED | We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming webinar series, Pathways to Paris: Igniting Shared Knowledge for Collective Action.

In partnership with the Pacific Climate Change Centre hosted at Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme - SPREP and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the series will open with ‘Ocean Climate Action: Blue Pacific Leadership on the Road to COP 31 and Beyond.’

This timely conversation will explore the ocean–climate nexus through Pacific-led perspectives on ocean science, governance, climate justice and collective action. With COP 31 approaching, the webinar will centre Pacific knowledge, priorities and leadership in conversations on blue carbon, marine finance and ocean-based climate solutions.

Under the theme "Amplifying One Pacific Voice for Action on 1.5 ºC to Stay Alive," the conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, civil society, and students to share knowledge and advance climate action in the Pacific.

As a Pacific-led initiative, POPCCC provides a platform to strengthen regional collaboration, showcase climate research, and explore solutions for adaptation, resilience, and sustainable development aligned with the needs and priorities of Pacific communities.

To strengthen relationships with our country partners, the Pacific Climate Change Centre (PCCC)/Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) met with Samoa’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) this week.

The meetings was an opportunity to share updates on PCCC initiatives supporting climate change research and innovation across the region as well as to brief our key partners on upcoming activities and opportunities for collaboration.

The discussions are timely ahead of the PCCC Board Meeting later this month. They also reflect the PCCC’s critical role in connecting Pacific needs and priorities in both research and practice, to pertinent global climate processes, such as the upcoming 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 31) that is co-hosted by the Pacific and the Seventh Assessment Report (AR7) by the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change that is due at the end of 2029.

PCCCs' work is only possible through the strong support and collaboration of the partner network. We look forward to continuing these relationships for the benefit of Samoa and the wider Pacific region.
