Amaro Than mourns the loss of Džansever.
Džansever Dalipova (8 July 1967 – 8 August 2026) was one of the most powerful voices our community has ever known. Born in Veles, she carried Romani music from the Balkans to Turkey and across the diaspora, and she sang through decades of illness and hardship without ever losing that voice.
She sang at our weddings. She sang in our grief. For generations of Roma, her songs were the sound of home.
Our condolences to her family, her loved ones, and to every Rom who grew up with her voice. May the earth be light upon her.
Rest in peace, Džansever, ano Djeneti. Your voice stays with us.
