Catering Partnership Opportunity – Babbage's Bistro, Mountain View Innovation Centre
Mountain View Innovation Centre is inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced and ambitious catering operators to become the new catering partner for Babbage's Bistro, our well-established café and event catering facility.
Situated within the 25-acre headquarters of AFD Software Ltd – The Postcode People, Mountain View Innovation Centre is also home to a thriving business community comprising resident companies, flexible workspace users, meeting room & conference facilities and Grasshoppers Nursery. Alongside this established onsite community, Mountain View welcomes a steady flow of business visitors, event delegates and members of the public who enjoy the café, landscaped grounds, sculpture trail and nature walks throughout the year.
This presents a unique opportunity to take on an established catering business with a loyal customer base and multiple income streams already in place, while offering significant scope to develop and grow the business further.
The opportunity includes:
• An established weekday café serving staff, tenants, visitors and members of the public.
• Catering for Grasshoppers Nursery.
• Hospitality for meetings, conferences and corporate events.
• Licensed bar operations (subject to the necessary licensing requirements).
• Opportunities to develop additional onsite and external catering services in partnership with Mountain View Innovation Centre.
Unlike many catering opportunities, this arrangement benefits from an attractive commercial model, with the use of a fully equipped commercial kitchen, café premises and core infrastructure provided as part of the agreement, helping to manage operating overheads and allowing the successful operator to focus on growing the business. The partnership is designed to align the interests of both parties and encourage long-term success.
We are seeking an operator who is passionate about quality food, excellent customer service and hospitality, and who is excited by the opportunity to become an integral part of the Mountain View community.

Update on Babbage's Bistro
Following the temporary closure of Babbage's Bistro over the summer, we had been looking forward to welcoming Bartłomiej Czapczynski back as our catering partner.
Unfortunately, Bart has informed us that, due to circumstances that he does not wish to make public, he will not be returning to operate Babbage's Bistro. Whilst we are naturally disappointed by this news, we would like to thank Bart for his contribution and wish him every success for the future.
To ensure Babbage's Bistro can reopen as soon as possible, Mountain View Innovation Centre will shortly be inviting expressions of interest from experienced catering providers who would like to become our new catering partner.
Further details of this exciting opportunity will be announced shortly. In the meantime, we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we work to secure a new operator.

🌼 From unused field to flourishing wildflower meadow... 🐝🦋

What was once an underused corner of our 25-acre Mountain View Innovation Centre site is now bursting with colour, wildlife and life.

Thanks to months of hard work by our Head Gardener, Ben Richards, our new wildflower meadow is now in full bloom, featuring a beautiful mix of UK native wildflowers including poppies, cornflowers and corn marigolds. The meadow is already providing a valuable food source for bees, butterflies and other pollinators, including the honey bees from our on-site hives, while creating a stunning display for everyone at Mountain View to enjoy.

The transformation wasn't without its challenges. From measuring, mowing and cultivating the land to battling weeks of relentless rain before finally sowing the seed, Ben's dedication has created a space that is already making a real difference to both biodiversity and wellbeing.

I started with a patch of land that wasn't really being used, and it's incredibly satisfying to see it transformed into something that's full of life and colour. It wasn't always easy – the weather certainly tested my patience – but seeing people stop to admire it, hearing how much they enjoy spending time there, and knowing it's providing a valuable habitat for bees, butterflies and other pollinators makes every bit of effort worthwhile." – Ben Richards, Head Gardener

Set alongside the Sulby River, the meadow has quickly become a favourite place for colleagues, resident businesses and Mountain View members to pause, recharge and reconnect with nature.

With Babbages Bistro due to reopen soon, we're looking forward to welcoming patrons back to enjoy not only great food and coffee, but also the beautiful surroundings, riverside walks, sculptures and now our spectacular wildflower meadow.

We’re absolutely delighted to confirm that Bart and his team will be continuing as our catering partner at Babbages Bistro following the renewal of our catering agreement for a further term at Mountain View Innovation Centre.

Over the past few years, Bart and the team have become a huge part of the MVIC community and have played a major role in developing Babbage’s Bistro into the vibrant, welcoming and well-loved space it is today. Their energy, creativity, commitment and, of course, fantastic food have made a real impact across the site and far beyond.

Due to personal family reasons, Bart will need to return to Poland for a short period over the summer and, as a result, Babbage’s Bistro will temporarily close for June and July, with plans to reopen in early August. The last trading day before the summer closure will be Friday 29th May, so make sure you book in and get your Babbage’s Bistro fix before they head off for an extended summer break!

We’re very pleased that we’ve been able to work together on arrangements which allow Bart to take this important time with his family whilst continuing the partnership moving forward.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Bart and his team for everything they continue to bring to MVIC, and we look forward to welcoming them back later this summer and seeing what exciting developments come next for Babbage’s Bistro.

We were delighted to host the Love Tech team, Nicole Stott and guests at Mountain View Innovation Centre last week as part of the inspiring Nicole Stott Series. 🚀

It was a pleasure to welcome everyone to the centre and to see it filled with so much energy, curiosity and excitement about the possibilities within space and STEM. We were also very pleased to see the group enjoy lunch at Babbages Bistro, giving students and guests a chance to connect and reflect on such an inspiring talk.

Hearing from someone with the experience and passion of Nicole Stott is something many students will remember for a long time, and we really hope the stories and ideas shared will inspire lots of young people across the Isle of Man to aim high and explore future careers in science, technology and space. 🌍✨
