How To Make Your Mission Statement Action Inspiring?
Your mission statement is the foundation for the success of your organization or non-profit. It should inspire and motivate donors, staff, volunteers, and customers alike. It should also be a clear statement of what you will accomplish, how you will accomplish it, and when you will accomplish it.
The purpose of a mission statement is to help organizations set goals for the future, but it is more than just a recitation of your organization's goals. It should be clear, concise, and compelling. It should invite people to join you on your mission. It should be actionable. A mission statement must work hard to persuade people to do the things that you need them to do.
Here're some examples:
Habitat for Humanity:
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
TED:
Spread ideas.
Boy Scouts of America:
Prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Kiva:
To expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive.
Global Youth Action Network (GYAN):
GYAN works to: facilitate youth participation and intergenerational partnership in global decision-making; support collaboration among diverse youth organizations; and to provide tools, resources, and recognition for positive youth action.
Global Citizen:
Build a movement of 100M action-taking Global Citizens to help achieve our vision of ending extreme poverty by 2030.
