Manual Bypass Facility

A manual bypass arrangement was integrated into the installation to provide additional operational flexibility.

This feature allows the client to supply the connected load circuits directly from the utility grid whenever desired while keeping the solar system connected solely for battery charging.

The bypass facility is particularly useful during:

Preventive maintenance

Inverter servicing

System troubleshooting

Equipment replacement

Periods when solar backup operation is temporarily unnecessary

This arrangement ensures that maintenance activities can be carried out without interrupting electricity supply to the connected loads.

System Description

The photovoltaic array consists of fifteen high-efficiency 500 W solar modules installed in an orientation that maximizes solar irradiation throughout the day.

The solar panels generate direct current (DC) electricity, which is routed through DC protection devices before entering the 120 A MPPT charge controller. The MPPT controller continuously tracks the optimum operating voltage of the PV array, maximizing energy harvest while charging the battery efficiently.

Energy generated by the solar array is stored in the 17.5 kWh lithium battery bank, providing sufficient reserve energy to power the client's essential electrical loads during periods of low solar generation and utility outages.

The stored DC energy is converted into high-quality 230 V AC power by the 10 kVA transformer-based inverter. Transformer-based inverters are known for their excellent surge-handling capability, electrical isolation, durability, and ability to support inductive loads such as pumps, refrigerators, and air-conditioning compressors within the inverter's rated capacity.

During normal daytime operation, the solar array supplies the connected loads while simultaneously charging the battery. Whenever solar production exceeds the load demand, excess energy continues charging the battery until full capacity is reached.

At night or during cloudy weather, the inverter automatically draws power from the battery bank to maintain continuous electricity supply.

SOLAR POWER SYSTEM INSTALLATION REPORT
