Huge South African farm said goodbye to Eskom with 5MW solar and batteries the size of 1,481 Tesla Powerwalls
Belle Rive Farm on the banks of the Vaal River in the Free State is set to become South Africa’s largest off-grid commercial farm.
RenEnergy South Africa has revealed it is deploying a 4.89-megawatt-peak (MWp) ground-mounted PV solar plant and a 20-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) at the farm.

The 2,000 hectare farm in the Free State required a massive energy storage system coupled with its solar plant to ensure energy continuity throughout seasonal cycles.
