You may have seen it in the news already - a new invasive spider named the Noble False Widow has reached our shores.

Here’s some facts about it:

🕷️ They are considered non-aggressive - thank goodness! But can bite if they find themselves provoked or trapped, such as being stuck in clothes or bedding.
🕷️ Their bite is slightly venomous, with the feeling of a bite being mostly compared to that of a wasp sting with other symptoms like redness and swelling.
🕷️ They find themselves living in houses due to seeking warmth in colder months.

Whilst they’re not as scary as what you may have read about them in the media, they are still an invasive species that have been reported as now being in Canterbury. As it gets warmer, like other spiders such as white tails, they will begin emerging from their hiding spots.
It may be time to think about booking in a spider spray!
