Stadsfastighetsförvaltningen at Göteborgs Stad got it right.

In their hybrid work environment, inclusion is not a nice-to-have; it must sit at the core to help teams stay connected, provide support, and move forward together. For the administration itself and the people they serve, the citizens of Gothenburg.

Thank you, Stadsfastighetsförvaltningen, for your trust and for engaging with curiosity and commitment. 🙌

77% of employers worldwide struggle to find skilled talent (European Commission, 2023).

At the same time, many professionals with a foreign background are still overlooked.

This shared challenge across Sweden and Germany was at the core of our joint event with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Germany’s Business Women Initiative, where we explored how mentorship can help bridge the gap.

We’re grateful to be featured in the Chamber’s magazine Schweden aktuell, highlighting the importance of creating more inclusive pathways into the labour market.

Different contexts, same reality: talent exists. It just needs to be seen.

This spring, Mitt Liv Chans has seen exceptionally strong interest from mentees. Around 100 motivated professionals are currently waiting to be matched with a mentor.

For us, these numbers are encouraging, but they are also a reminder of the continued pressure in the labour market for professionals with a foreign background who have not yet secured roles that match their qualifications.

Becoming a mentor is a chance to share your experience and make a real difference in someone’s professional journey.
The mentorship runs for four months, is fully digital, and requires around 12 hours in total.

Mentorship can change a career. This is your chance to be part of that change.

Why join Mitt Livs Chans? Our alumni Anna M. shares her journey.

After years in academia, Anna joined the programme to navigate a career transition and better understand the Swedish job market. With her mentor’s support, she gained confidence in networking, interviews, and communication with recruiters. A key mindset shift, Du är rätt person, helped her approach opportunities with belief in her own value.

Her advice: be open, honest, and ready to grow. The right guidance can change how you see your path.

And congratulations to Anna on receiving an award from the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities for her doctoral thesis.

We continued our mentor outreach this week with another visit to SEB, as recruitment for the Spring 2026 round of the Mitt Liv Mentoring Program remains in full motion.

Meeting people who are open to sharing their time, experience, and networks is a reminder that inclusion is built through everyday actions. Mentorship creates space for guidance, confidence, and connection, especially for professionals navigating the Swedish labour market from a new starting point.

A warm thank you to the team at SEB Arenastaden for the thoughtful conversations and engagement, especially Niklas Granlund, Sara Lindmark, Sima Taheri, and Ram Mohan Bandi.

Today, we were at SEB recruiting mentors for the upcoming spring 2026 round of our Mentoring Program. Conversations like these are a reminder that small commitments can change lives. Sharing experience, opening networks, and taking the time to listen can make a real difference for someone trying to find their place in the Swedish labour market.

We are currently looking for mentors who want to contribute to a more inclusive labour market by supporting a person with a foreign background and post-secondary education in their professional journey. The program runs digitally and requires around 10 hours over four months.

A special thank you to Johan Nyquist and to everyone at SEB we had the chance to speak with today.

Apply to become a mentor here: 🔗 https://mittliv.com/se/en/mentoring-program/become-a-mentor/

For those of you working at SEB Arenastaden tomorrow, you will find us by the Bistro between 11.30 and 13.00. Feel free to come by and say hello.
