We had a great time representing SO Dsgn at the Chicago Studio Designers Panel discussion last Thursday alongside a talented group of designers! Rotimi shared our POV on design studio life and the some of the great aspects of building and working at design consultancy. One of the things we love most about being a consultancy is the versatility in the industries we work in and the types of projects we do — it keeps us on our toes and keeps us constantly learning and evolving.

Exciting news! We’re super excited to be welcoming (aka Candace Solola) as a new full-time partner of SO Dsgn, working alongside Rotimi Solola. Candace will be leading the Brand Design capability within our growing studio. With her previous role as Design Director at Landor & Fitch, she comes with a ton of brand building experience and expertise that spans across industries and categories. She has worked with global brands, small businesses and everything in between.

With this powerful addition to the team, SO Dsgn has expanded beyond Product Design as our main offering, into Branding and Packaging Design as additional core offerings. We pride ourselves on elevating both brands and products through meaningful, story-driven design.

This is just one of the exciting things on the horizon for SO Dsgn. We have so much we’re working on as a studio, so you will be seeing a lot more from us in the near future. Stay tuned for more exiting news to come!

This week we welcomed our 2021 Industrial Design Intern .design to SO dsgn!

Andrew is an international Industrial design student from Indonesia currently studying at UIC. He values the functional, emotional, and branding elements that connect to the end user. When he's not designing Andrew enjoys playing tennis and soccer, painting, or traditional film photography.

Meet our 2020 summer intern .ference. He’s been working at SO dsgn for about a month and a half and we’re happy to have him. Chris is an industrial designer currently studying at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Having a focus in furniture, home goods, and consumer electronics among other things, he is always experimenting with new processes and tools. Chris has recently been experimenting with augmented reality and model making as tools to develop innovative products and ideas... Welcome Chris!

During the process of developing the Shade brand & packaging for the matcha powder we decided to extend the brand to other products such as green tea matcha Chocolate. Swipe to see some of the process. We used 2D & 3D printing to evaluate our packaging concepts and product proportions & dimensions. Credit to for the amazing creative direction & graphic design work across this project. @ Chicago, Illinois
