🏆 WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT, LOUIS! 🎣🔥
From all of us at Rapala SA, congratulations to Louis Kruger and his team on an incredible result at Arabie! Moving up to 2nd overall after an intense weekend of fishing, teamwork and determination is something to be proud of.
Here’s Louis with the story behind an unforgettable weekend:
"Eish, what a comp we had on Arabie! 🎣
Saturday, sitting on a 4 kg bag and struggling to find the big bite, I coined the phrase: “October is spookbome month!” 😂 My relatively new-to-bass-fishing partner bought it like koekie-winkel koeksisters!
About 40 minutes later, with still no bite, my Cleanup Craw suddenly got REALLY heavy. I knew it had just got real.
She was buried in the tree and had no intention of coming out. Three times during the fight Chris shouted, “Lay off the pressure! Something’s gonna give!” But I knew if I gave her an inch, she’d wrap me up. 😂
So I bullied her into the net.
Seeing that 3.3 kg fish safely in the net was honestly one of the greatest moments of my fishing career. Suddenly, we were back in the game.
We finished Saturday with 7.7 kg for 4th on the day, and also found out we’d finished 4th for the season — a result I’m incredibly happy with in our rookie season.
Sunday morning, I changed the call and pointed the Terminator straight at the spookbome. 😋 Half an hour later, we had 4.8 kg, with Chris doing an awesome job getting a 2.3 kg and 2.5 kg out of the trees.
After a few more hours, we moved to Big Rock and found another fish just over a kilo, giving us 7.9 kg for the day.
Staying consistent helped us move up to 2nd overall! 🥳
But here’s the part that means the most to me.
On Saturday, when we were basically a lost cause, I prayed and asked God not for big fish, but for a plan.
And the next thing I came up with was:
“October is spookbome maand.”
God is good! 🙏🎣 "
