Spillly Business Consulting We consult business owners and want to help YOU address your business's growth frustrations, strateg Who is Spillly? What do you do? How and when do you do it?

Brent Spilkin has owned and managed several businesses from manufacturing and distribution to property management and media consultancies and found that at different stages of these businesses he lacked knowledgeable mentorship that helped him advance his business and deliver long-term results. He now wants to share his experiences and help steer you in the right direction. I facilitate an environ

ment, which allows non-opposing business owners of all sizes and ages to express their pains, frustrations and goals as well as find solutions to everyday challenges, which hinder corporate growth, no matter how big or small. You will be part of a professional, objective team of people who support each other with work related issues. The skills and experiences of the individual members vary, providing you with several, well-informed viewpoints. The teams are kept to a maximum of twelve members allowing each member the desired time needed to find and add value to the group. Once a month, for a full day, business owners and CEO’s come together in a comfortable setting where I will coordinate and take part in discussions and presentations that aim to help you, the business owner identify opportunities, misconceptions and find solutions to challenges which hinder success. We also meet once a month for a 1-on-1 meeting where we review the previous month’s goals and set new objectives. All of the members have the chance to host a full-day session, if they have the space. Membership target market

Are you the owner or CEO of a newly started to mature business who is experiencing frustrations in growing your business as well as finding solutions to topics such as sales and marketing, human resource, procurement, distribution, exit strategy and reporting functions? Are you the decision maker that is looking for a fresh perspective, personal growth and new challenging ideas? Even successful, well-run businesses can learn and grow in this environment. If you are seeking assistance in making the right decisions or need a bit of inspiration that will positively impact your business, then we are looking for you. What will this cost my company? Monthly fees are negotiable and include a minimum of one hour with me 1-on-1 time, our monthly group meeting as well as access to all the members when the need arises. This also covers any guest speakers and presentations that happen on an ad-hoc basis.

10+ Years. 879 Leads. All Tracked Manually.

I’ve been quietly logging every business I find interesting into one CRM for the last decade — not as a high-pressure sales funnel, but as a curated list of companies I might want to coach, one day.

Here’s what that’s looked like:
879 leads added since 2015
314 turned into paying clients
322 I’ve said no to (or priced so hard they walked themselves out — which was the point)

The rest? Still sitting in “maybe someday”
That’s a 49.4% conversion rate on all closed leads

And the biggest surprise?

LinkedIn has been my No.1 source — responsible for 53 clients over the years.
But more importantly — over 100 of those leads came from people inside my own network: clients, friends, former colleagues. Real humans saying, “You should speak to Spillly.”

Oh — and while all this was happening, my coaching fee has increased by over 300% in that time. Not from greed, but from clarity. I know who I work best with, and what I’m worth when I’m in the room.

It’s a reminder:
Systems are great. Networks are better.
But both? That’s how you build a business that lasts.

A Walking Anxiety Disorder Harnessed for Productivity. Thats me!

I’ve often felt like a walking anxiety disorder. For years, I believed my worry was the secret to my success. Obsessing, overthinking, gripping tightly—it felt like fuel. Every achievement reinforced the idea that my anxiety was a performance enhancer, while every failure whispered that I hadn’t worried enough.

Even as I became more experienced, the worry didn’t disappear; it just morphed. Confidence in my skills grew, but joy didn’t follow. Instead, I carried the weight of relentless expectations. It was as if the fear that once motivated me had left, but in its place was a stark, joyless seriousness.

But here’s what I’ve come to realise: the fear and worry that helped me take off are no longer necessary now that I’m in orbit. Habit, skill, and experience drive me forward—those were always the real engines.

If this resonates with you, I’d propose an experiment: assume things will go well. Not out of naivety, but because they often do. Ease the grip. Loosen the controls. You’ll still figure it out, as you always have.

Life isn’t a series of miserable successes to endure.

The process matters.

Seek joy in the journey.

You might just find it was there all along, waiting for you to notice.

2024: Prepare for a wake-up call.

In a world that glorifies comfort and routine, the self-care movement has misled us into an obsession with feeling good – turning on the heater, slipping into warm slippers, indulging in sugary treats, and rewarding ourselves with Netflix binges. But let's debunk the myth: real growth begins in discomfort.

Reflecting on my life's "blessings," every significant one is intertwined with a substantial struggle. In the midst of the challenge, it felt like pure agony, yet overcoming it served as the catalyst for subsequent greatness.

I heard someone online coin the term "adult babies" for those who shun discomfort and adversity, yearning for a fair world and expecting empathy for their woes. Unfortunately, they often find themselves drowned in self-pity, leading to a cycle of neglect and more suffering. Their mental state becomes stagnant.

Avoiding struggle and discomfort is futile; they are inherent in the human experience. You have the choice to embrace a challenge or wait for one to find you.

Why does struggle feel good? Because it paves the way for growth.

Dan Koe aptly states, "If you don't choose a struggle, you will be assigned one." It's time to shatter the illusion of perpetual comfort, confront discomfort, and welcome the growth that follows.

Hello 2024 - Which struggle will you embrace?

What an incredible experience it was to speak 🎤at the recent Civitas event organized by the duo, Paul and Ryan!

It was truly a joy to see 75 enthusiastic business owners gathered in one room, ready to learn, connect, and share their expertise. The energy in the room was palpable, and it reminded me of the power and magic of public speaking, especially after the challenges we've faced during the pandemic.

As I took the stage to speak about sales, sales teams, and the tactics that have proven successful in both my own business and my coaching clients' ventures, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. The ability to engage with the audience, observe their reactions, and adapt my delivery in real-time was an experience like no other.

The impact of in-person connections cannot be overstated. While virtual platforms have played a vital role in keeping us connected over the past year, nothing compares to the authenticity and depth of face-to-face interactions. Being able to see the nodding heads, hear the laughter, and feel the energy of the audience gave me an immediate feedback loop, allowing me to tailor my message to their specific needs and challenges.

But it wasn't just about the presentation itself. It was the networking opportunities that followed, where meaningful connections were formed, ideas were exchanged, and potential collaborations sparked. It's these moments that have the power to transform businesses, create lifelong partnerships, and inspire new ventures.

I believe it's crucial that we seize every opportunity to reconnect, learn from one another, and continue to grow both personally and professionally. Events like the Civitas gathering, are the perfect catalysts for this growth and create an environment that fosters knowledge sharing, camaraderie, and the celebration of our collective successes.

To all the business owners who attended, thank you for your presence and engagement. It was an honour to share my insights with you, and I hope that my talk left you inspired to enhance your sales efforts. Remember, success is not achieved alone but through the power of a supportive community.

Dear ChatGPT,

If school kids are punished or penalised for using automation like ChatGPT in school as its seen as cheating, while corporates in the real world promote and incentivize quicker automated solutions to problems, is the school system flawed?

Thank you, Spillly.
..

Dear Spillly,

[Love your name by the way] The school system and the business world have different objectives and operate under different conditions, so it is not necessarily a flaw of the school system if using automation tools like ChatGPT is not allowed in school.

The school system aims to educate students and develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which may not be fully achieved if students rely solely on automation tools. In the business world, automation is used to improve efficiency and productivity, but it is usually employed by professionals with specialized knowledge and skills. Corporations promote and incentivize automation because it can save time, reduce costs, and increase accuracy, among other benefits.

That being said, it is important for schools to adapt to the changing technological landscape and incorporate automation tools in their curriculum. Teaching students how to use automation tools responsibly and effectively can help prepare them for the future workforce. It's all about finding the right balance between manual and automated solutions, and ensuring that students have a deep understanding of the problem they are trying to solve.
