The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying operational threats, ensuring legal compliance and protecting employees from the unique hazards associated with meat production, abattoir operations and cold-chain logistics

Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead facility-wide Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) and implement preventative measures for high-risk areas
Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), COIDA and relevant industry legislation and regulations
Oversee risk management and emergency evacuation protocols for industrial refrigeration systems, boiler units and other high-risk equipment
Drive improvements in biological, chemical and ergonomic safety, including controls for wash-down activities, repetitive work and heavy lifting
Manage environmental and waste management initiatives, including effluent treatment, organic w aste disposal and water conservation
Lead incident and near-miss investigations, including root-cause analysis and reporting to management and relevant regulatory bodies
Drive safety awareness initiatives, toolbox talks and mandatory safety training for employees and contractors

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree, BTech or National Diploma (NQF Level 6/7) in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Risk Management or Food Science
5 to 8 years' progressive health and safety experience
At least 3 years' experience in a management role within an abattoir, meat processing facility or large-scale FMCG food manufacturing environment
Completed SAMTRAC or a NEBOSH International General Certificate/Diploma
Formal training in advanced HIRA and Incident Investigation

Knowledge and Skills:

Working knowledge of, or certification in, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
Knowledge of HACCP or FSSC 22000 will be advantageous
Strong executive-level report writing and presentation skills

* Negotiate directly with senior retail buyers and commercial decision-makers

Retail Category & Commercial Management

* Monitor category performance, competitor activity, pricing and market trends
* Use customer and market data to identify commercial opportunities
* Work with retail customers on range reviews, new product launches and category development
* Negotiate promotional activity and ensure promotions deliver an acceptable commercial return
* Monitor pricing and competitor positioning across major retail channels
* Develop strong knowledge of retailer-specific systems, processes and commercial requirements

Internal Stakeholder Management

* Work closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Production, Finance, Marketing and Customer Service to ensure major retail customer requirements are met
* Communicate customer forecasts, promotions, ranging requirements and volume expectations
* Ensure agreed pricing, promotions and trading terms are correctly implemented internally
* Proactively manage supply and service-level issues with customers
* Provide senior management with regular reporting on account performance, commercial negotiations, risks and growth opportunities

Minimum Requirements

* Relevant tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business Management or a related field
* Minimum 5-8 years' proven sales management experience within the South African retail environment
* Direct experience managing major retail accounts
* Proven experience negotiating annual trading terms with major retail groups
* Established understanding of the South African retail buying environment

A leading logistics and supply chain organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to drive supply chain optimisation, logistics solutions, continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives.

The role will focus on warehouse, transport and network optimisation , process improvement, business case development, project delivery and the implementation of automation, analytics and AI-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and implement warehouse, transport and supply chain optimisation solutions.
* Analyse operational data and develop models, business cases and feasibility studies.
* Lead Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Manage complex projects from concept through to implementation.
* Identify and implement automation, analytics and digital transformation opportunities.
* Work with Operations, IT, Finance, Commercial and external technology partners.
* Develop process maps, requirements specifications and implementation plans.
* Present recommendations and business cases to senior management and executives.

Minimum Requirements

* BEng / Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering - essential
* 8+ years' Industrial Engineering experience
* 5+ years' experience managing complex projects
* Experience within logistics, warehousing, distribution, supply chain or related operational environments
* Proven experience in supply chain optimisation, process engineering and continuous improvement
* Experience developing business cases and feasibility studies
* Strong data analysis, modelling and problem-solving skills
* Experience with WMS, ERP and/or Transport Management Systems

Technical Skills

* Advanced Microsoft Excel
* Power BI
* Power Apps / Power Automate
* Lean Six Sigma
* Business process analysis and process mapping
* Project and change management
* Knowledge of automation, AI and digital transformation
* SQL and/or Python would be advantageous

A postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Analysis or Project Management , together with Lean Six Sigma, PMP, CSCP or SCOR-P certification, would be advantageous.
