JUNIOR PROGRAMMER - CIVIL CONSTRUCTION
My client, well known Marine Civil Engineers, based in CT have a position available for a Junior programmer/ planner with relevant experience.
Key responsibilities:
Developing project schedules: Break down construction projects into manageable tasks, defining activity sequences, durations, and resource requirements using construction scheduling software—MS Projects / Primevera / CCS Candy.
Critical path analysis: Identify the most critical activities in a project that could impact overall completion time and manage potential delays. Resource allocation: Assign appropriate personnel, equipment, and materials to each construction activity based on project needs and availability. Progress monitoring: Regularly track project progress against the schedule, identifying variances and taking corrective actions when necessary. (various projects) Change order management: Analyze the impact of any changes to the project scope on the schedule and update accordingly. Reporting and communication: repare and present detailed project schedule reports to stakeholders, including project managers, clients, and contractors, highlighting key milestones and potential issues. Risk assessment: Identify potential risks that could affect project timelines and develop mitigation strategies. Collaboration with team members: Work closely with engineers, architects, estimators, and construction crews to gather accurate information and ensure schedule feasibility.
Required Skills:
Ability to work with programmes such as MS Projects, Primevera, CCS Candy. Relevant qualification; proficient in scheduling tools; analytical, some technical knowledge. Must have good communication skills and problem solving skills
Must have the :
Ability to travel between sites
Ability to track several construction programmes
The successful candidate will be required to conduct site visits and observe site operations, track activities against the programme of works and report back on each site visit to enable the project manager and construction manager to strategize effectively.
The programmer will be required to break down activities into sub-activities as required and track accordingly
The programmer will be required to observe resource allocation and report constructively
The programmer will be required to report slippage timeously to prevent losses to the project
