I am busy pushing to grow my watch repair business with the main focus on the preservation of vintage watches that often have great sentimental meaning. I received this watch from a local resident. It belonged to her great grandfather and is dated 3/6/30. It had a broken lug, a very scratched crystal and was in need of a full service. It is an Omega gents wrist watch with a silver case, enamel dial and a non shock protected 26.5SOB movement. There is no reason why this watch will not still be running 100 years from now and can be used on a daily basis if the owner chooses to. In this case it is an important family heirloom that will be handed down to the next generation.

Do you have an old mechanical watch (one that doesn't take a battery, the hand 'sweeps' and doesn't 'tick') that you would like to have serviced? Maybe you want to sell? Watches don't need to be running or even complete. I am also looking for watch makers tools and spare parts.

And the final result! Ready for the next 50 years... With regular servicing and some care these watches will run for decades and will hopefully be enjoyed by future generations.

Follow your passion and the rest will follow... I have decided to make a career move and will be following a passion of mine, preserving and sharing the wonderful feats of miniature engineering and design that are vintage mechanical watches.

The service I have shown here is of an Omega Geneve manual wind in a stainless steel case. The watch dates from 1969 (when NASA was sending men to the moon with the now famous Omega Speedmaster). The watch was in very good overall condition but needed some work.

I recently services a rather unusual piece for one of the Betty's bay residents. It is based on a standard size movement that would fit a wrist watch but is fitted into a sliding case complete with strap and a little leg that pops out of the back so you can set it down on a table. It is a small travel 'clock' minus the alarm. Running beautifully now!
