โ๏ธ๐จ๐ท๐บ WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF KASPAROV RETURNED TO RUSSIA?
Garry Kasparov, one of the greatest chess players in history, was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, in 1963, when it was part of the Soviet Union.
But there is a frightening reason why he cannot simply return to Moscow.
In December 2025, a Moscow court ordered Kasparovโs arrest in absentia, and in February 2026 the decision was upheld on appeal. He has also been placed on Russiaโs list of individuals designated as extremists. Russian authorities say he faces criminal charges, and he is wanted internationally.
So, if Kasparov entered Russia, he could be detained and face imprisonment. This is why returning home is not simply a matter of buying a plane ticket. ๐จ๐
And yet, despite living abroad, his connection with Russia remains deeply rooted in his identity. He has spoken about his love for his country and his hope for a better future for its people. ๐ท๐บโค๏ธ
Kasparov continues to criticize the Russian government and advocate for democracy and freedom from abroad.
He conquered the chessboard. But now, one of the greatest battles of his life is being fought far away from his homeland. โ๏ธ๐ฅ
Perhaps one day, Kasparov will be able to return to Moscow.
Until then, the chess king remains in exile. โ๏ธ๐ท๐บ
