Family and friends, I’m starting something new here on my profile and I want you to be part of it.
For a long time I worked as a nanny/domestic worker. I know what it means to leave your own kids at home to go raise someone else’s. I know the early taxis, the sore knees from scrubbing, and the pride when a house is shining. I also know how it feels when people don’t see the person behind the work.
So every week I’m going to share real stories about domestic workers, nannies, and gardeners in South Africa. The hard parts. The beautiful parts. Everything in between.
This is for
My fellow nannies, domestic workers, gardeners and employers your stories matter. You can share them with me here.
Employers and Madams – if you’ve learned something from the people who help in your home, I’d love to hear it too.
Anyone who believes in dignity and respect for all work.
No fighting. No insults. Just honest stories so we can understand each other better.
