Urgent Appeal for Financial Assistance: Life-Saving Open-Heart Surgery for Ferenc Toth.

Dear Friends, Community Members, and Supporters,

Many of you will know Ferenc Toth as a dedicated and selfless servant of our community. Ferenc serves as Chairman of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) and is actively involved in numerous committees and initiatives focused on the safety, security, and wellbeing of residents in Boesmansriviermond, Kenton-on-Sea, Boknes, Cannon Rocks, and the surrounding farming communities.

For many years, Ferenc has devoted countless hours of his personal time to helping others, often placing the needs of the community ahead of his own. Today, he finds himself in urgent need of our support.

Ferenc has recently been diagnosed with severe heart failure caused by a critically leaking heart valve. His medical specialists have confirmed that he requires urgent open-heart surgery to replace the damaged valve. This procedure is not elective—it is life-saving and cannot be postponed, as his condition continues to deteriorate and poses a serious threat to his life.

The estimated cost of the surgery, hospitalization, specialist care, and post-operative rehabilitation is approximately R550,000. Despite every effort made by Ferenc and his family, the financial burden of this essential medical treatment is simply beyond their means.

In response to this urgent need, BRRAG (Boesmansriviermond Ratepayers Organization) has launched a fundraising campaign through BackaBuddy to assist in raising the necessary funds for Ferenc's treatment and recovery.

We respectfully appeal to every individual, business, organization, and community member to consider making a contribution. No donation is too small - every rand donated brings us one step closer to ensuring that Ferenc receives the medical care he desperately needs.

To ensure complete transparency and accountability, all funds raised will be administered by BRRAG and paid directly to the relevant medical practitioners, hospitals, and approved after-care service providers involved in Ferenc's treatment and recovery.

If you are unable to make a financial contribution, you can still make a meaningful difference by sharing this appeal and the BackaBuddy campaign with your family, friends, colleagues, and social networks.

URGENT NOTICE:

Our community deserves reliable water, functional infrastructure, and accountable municipal services. Yet, time and again, we are left dealing with inconsistent supply, delays, and a lack of response to our concerns. This is no longer just an inconvenience - it affects our daily lives, our businesses, our property values, and our dignity.

Real change does not come from isolated frustration. It comes from unified, collective action.

This petition is more than just a document - it is our voice. When we stand together, we demonstrate that these issues are not individual complaints, but a shared crisis that demands urgent attention. The more signatures we gather, the stronger our position becomes. It sends a clear message: our community is informed, united, and unwilling to accept poor service delivery any longer.

Snake bite victim Sydney Miller Financial Assistance feedback from Lötter Wepener (Chair: Boesmansriviermond Ratepayers’ Organisation / BRRAG).

Good day to all the members of the best community and our friends.

After our initial appeal for financial support to help the firefighter bitten by a puffadder, the response was truly overwhelming. Most donors contributed amounts with only “snake” as a reference, which means we are unable to identify the vast majority of donors. Monetary assistance came from far and wide—including the USA—and especially from our extended local communities.

In total, over R 200,000 was raised, and these funds are being used to cover Sydney’s medical expenses, including specialized treatments, travel costs, and to provide comfort during his recovery. Any funds not spent to improve his comfort and treatment will go directly to Sydney to help compensate for his loss of income.

Sydney is self-employed and has obviously been unable to return to work, remaining in Gheberha for treatment. He was on holiday in Boesmansriviermond when he volunteered to help contain the fires that threatened our area.

A huge thanks also to BRRAG committee member Gibbon Schickerling who initiated a BackaBuddy group that has additionally collected close to R 25 000.

Sydney also received a generous donation for hyperbaric treatment, which he may undergo due course once the doctors so advise. He is, however, still in Livingstone hospital under doctors’ observation in the trauma ward. Without giving too much detail of his condition, we can disclose that he will be in hospital for observation and treatment for at least another week, if not longer. He is still suffering quite a lot of discomfort. People close to him are doing all they can to obtain the best possible medical assistance for Sydney.

Since we are unable to reach out to every individual or organization personally, please accept this message of thanks as though it were addressed directly to each of you.

We are deeply grateful for every act of kindness and support shown to Sydney during this challenging time. Your generosity has made a real difference.

Pro-Active Measures:

A big shout out to the Night Watch CPF / NHW, Hi Tec Security Coastal teams, Provincial Traffic and Department of Fisheries that assisted SAPS yesterday at the road block on the Bushmansriver Bridge. Great comradeship between all the role players is testament to the great working relationship working for a better community.

A strong show of force really demonstrates the community's readiness to take action against crime. It sends a clear message that we're alert, united, and not an easy target - something any would-be criminal won't forget soon.

🎶 A Night to Remember in Boesmansriviermond! 🎶

What an incredible evening it was at the Boesmansrivier Town Hall on Wednesday, 29 October, where a packed full house enjoyed a sold-out performance featuring the phenomenal talents of Dan Patlansky and Guy Buttery!

The atmosphere was electric, the music world-class, and the sense of community truly heartwarming. It was wonderful to see so many local and neighboring residents coming together to enjoy and support live music right here in our town.

👏 A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a success — your support keeps the spirit of community and culture alive!

About the Musicians:

Dan Patlansky: a South African blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter known for his modern blues-rock music and exceptional guitar skills. He has released over 11 studio albums, been voted one of the best guitarists in the world, and has toured internationally, including opening for Bruce Springsteen in 2014.

Guy Buttery: Cited as “one of South Africa's most influential artists over the past decade" by The Sunday Independent, Buttery's distinctive acoustic style is influenced by traditional South African culture, music and instrumentation. In live performances, Guy also uses an EBow and a looper to create "synth-like textures".
