In the age of AI, critical thinking is a superpower.
Earlier this week, we reflected on the legacy of the 1976 Youth, who fought for the right to learn in a language they understood.
Fifty years later, South African learners have access to tools that previous generations could only dream of. A smartphone can now provide information, explanations, and even help with assignments in seconds.
But as technology becomes more powerful, an important question remains:
Are we using AI to support learning, or to replace it?
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills remain some of the most valuable skills a person can develop. These are the skills that help learners become leaders who actively participate in the countrys future.
The youth of 1976 fought for access to knowledge.
Our challenge is to ensure we continue building the ability to think for ourselves.
What is one skill you believe every young South African should develop, regardless of how advanced technology becomes?
