Here the boutique Black Oystercatcher Wines are made from the intensely fruity grapes, formed in Cape Agulhas’ extreme growing conditions. And having farmed at Cape Agulhas for generations, we, the Human family, know these conditions well. We use the constant coastal winds, our marginal soils and the unique geology to grow our small compact berries. The result? Top quality cool climate wines with penetrating, fruit flavours and a distinctive minerality.

New growth is peeking through the vines…

That means spring has arrived! 🌸

Now, our vines require a steady hand to guide them through development – that’s where our experienced vineyard team comes in. They know just how to prune the plants so that they flourish in the warmer weather.

We’re looking forward to reaping the fruits of our hard work in late summer, when harvest season comes… 🍷☀️

🤝 Teamwork is an important part of custom winemaking. You bring your grapes and your vision. We provide the cellar, infrastructure and winemaking expertise to help turn that vision into a finished wine.

At the Black Oystercatcher in Cape Agulhas, we offer contract crush and custom winemaking services to boutique brands, established producers and emerging winemakers.

From receiving and processing grapes through to winemaking, maturation and bottling, our custom crush facility gives producers access to an established cellar and experienced team, without the need to operate a cellar of their own.

We’re sharing some love for our loyal furry friends on 🐕🩷

Since we're a working wine farm, visitors to our tasting room often encounter our friendly farm dogs. To new and old friends alike, it’s not hard to see how important Stella, Maggie, Lottie, Molly, Gracie, George, Roach and now also Eden are to our family, not to mention those who spent their lifetimes with us, like Oscar.

If you happen to see these friendly faces on your next visit, be sure to stop and give them a scratch – you’re sure to be rewarded with a wagging tail!

We only serve our thin-crust pizzas once a month, and they’ve become a favourite on the menu. Every slice is a treat – topped with fresh seasonal ingredients and baked to crispy perfection in our wood-fired pizza oven. 😋
