Made from 100% Chardonnay and matured for a minimum of 48 months in bottle, The Ring offers lively citrus, elegant complexity, fine bubbles, and a distinctive mineral finish.

Its crisp acidity acts like a squeeze of fresh lemon, enhancing the natural briny sweetness of oysters while refreshing the palate with every sip. This is why The Ring pairs so beautifully with seafood, sushi, and caviar, while also complementing creamy dishes and even lightly roasted chicken.

INTRODUCING THE RING

The 1994 vintage of Cap Classique is considered the first wine that Philip Jonker made. The wine still needed to undergo a second fermentation and spend another three years maturing in the underground cellar before it would be ready for release.
Little did Philip know that he would meet Lindelize in the months that followed. Three years later, he was ready to marry his barefoot bride and pop the first cork of his first Cap Classique on their wedding day beneath an old oak tree in the Karoo.
Philip Jonker The Ring was created to celebrate their covenant and enduring bond of love.

The Ring is a vintage Blanc de Blancs that celebrates this special bond.
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay, offering lively citrus notes, clean minerality, complexity, and elegance.

Only the finest vintages are released.

DOES CHARDONNAY AGE WELL?

Premium quality Chardonnay is one of the few white wines capable of aging for 5 to 20 years. It’s aging ability relies on high natural acidity, oak influence, and lees contact. This evolution transforms fresh fruit into rich, complex tertiary flavours.

This does, however, depend on proper storage.

THE SELECTION BEGINS.

Each bottle on the table represents a different 1st fill Burgundian barrel from our cellar, carefully tasted during the selection process for our Poets Prayer 2025 vintage.

Rooted in Weltevrede’s ancient lime-rich soils, this wine is crafted from an extremely small selection of old vines, chosen for their balance of complexity and minerality. The grapes are hand picked and whole bunch pressed before spending one year maturing on the lees in individual 228L barrels.

Through this tasting process, our winemakers carefully select which of these barrels meet the Poets Prayer standard, a final decision that shapes the character and rarity of this wine.
