Solar power solutions - these systems need to register with Eskom or Municipality:

"Small-scale embedded generation facilities with an installed capacity of 100kW or less and with a point of connection to the electricity grid are required to register with the relevant distributor, being Eskom or the applicable licenced municipality;
and
Embedded generation facilities with an installed capacity of more than 100 kW and apoint of connection to the grid are required to register directly with Nersa."

Nersa has clarified the registration requirements for residential solar and small-scale embedded generation installations, following concerns raised by Outa about unclear regulations.

Difference between Rezoning your property and Applying for Consent

- Rezoning: Changing the zoning of a property to allow a different use or development (e.g., from residential to commercial). Involves amending the local zoning scheme.
- Consent application: Seeking permission for a specific use, often subject to conditions. Typically for uses like additional dwellings, guesthouses, churches, schools, restaurants etc

Rezoning is broader, while consent is more specific.
