Burger family | Caledon
I first photographed the Burger family when their girl was just a baby, and then again when she was three. Now, years later, I had the privilege of seeing them again — this time as they prepare to welcome baby number two.

Watching a family grow, and being trusted to document those chapters along the way, is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.

And now, the sweetest little girl is about to become a big sister.

He played with his little tractor, she danced along to the music, and Mom joined in from behind the camera — turning an ordinary morning into something worth remembering.

Why Photographing Your Own Children Isn't Always Easy.
People often think that my own children must be the easiest to photograph.
The truth? They're not.
Not because I lack the skills, but because I'm Mom.
Children naturally become silly, playful, and full of energy around the people they love. The more we ask them to sit still, look at the camera, or say cheese, the more likely they are to do the exact opposite.
And let's be honest... what child wants to stand still and pose when they're surrounded by a field of beautiful yellow flowers just waiting to be explored?
These are my boys.
When you book a session with Dear June Photography, I'll always try to capture those beautiful, classic portraits where everyone is looking at the camera. But those photos are never make-or-break.
My job isn't to make your children perform for the camera. My job is to help them feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves. That's when the most beautiful photographs happen.

What a fun afternoon it was capturing these precious memories for Lindy and Frans as they prepare to welcome their newest little blessing. This session was filled with so much love and excitement for the journey ahead.

Wishing your beautiful family every blessing as you wait to meet your newest little miracle. 🤍

One of the reasons I love this location for families with young children is that the sun drops behind the mountain & trees earlier than at most of my other locations. That means we can start our session at 3:00 pm in winter, enjoy beautiful soft light, and still be finished in plenty of time for dinner and bath time.
