HOW TO BEAT THE HEAT😎
When it comes to childcare safety during the Summer months the key is to stay cool. The CDC (Center for Disease Control & Prevention) advises that childcare safety and Summertime play be balanced with ways to keep the body cool to prevent heat-related illness.
STAY HYDRATED
Drink lots of water and avoid the sugary drinks.🥤
KEEP COOL
Air-conditioned, fans and shaded areas are great cooling spaces to help little bodies cool off.⛱️
KEEP IT LIGHT
Have the children wear lightweight, loose-fitting and light-colored clothing.👕
SUN PROTECTION
When it comes to the hot Summer months, sun protection is a must! Here is a great sun safety tool kit for childcare:
👒Have a Hat – Hats provide shade your face, head, ears, and neck.
Wear Sunglasses – Sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun’s rays and keep your eyes healthy.
👣Apply Sunscreen – Put sunscreen on any exposed skin about 15 minutes before going outside to make sure you are totally protected. When it comes to sunscreen, think spray-on, water resistant.
👕Cover Up – Clothes can provide great protection from the sun. Long-sleeved shirts and pants offer the best protection. Darker colored clothing is usually more protective than lighter colors.
WATER PLAY SAFETY💧
Water play is a nice way to cool off on hot days however remember keep your childcare safe during water play by supervising & having to be close enough to reach the children at all times.
