Our concept was first thought in 2019 when our Founder, Shannon Walshe, left her corporate role. She observed that very often it is the leadership who believe their roles are to control and oversee as opposed to building an organisation of trust and treating their employees as capable human beings. She felt her own ability, autonomy, creativity and innovation being stifled by these old bureaucratic models. It took courage and compassion to challenge the status quo. She did not want to become a ‘yes-man’ to these outdated leadership styles, and practices. Instead, she searched for another way, a better way, the ‘next-us‘.
