In the wild and ever-changing world of business, we as leaders need to have some serious learning agility. We need the ability to make fast decisions, and prep our teams for the unexpected.

It's essential to constantly review and revamp strategies, be open to change, and inspire a mindset that embraces it.

Are you and your team working remotely? How is your communication? 🤔

We know that communication can be tricky when you're physically in a different space than your colleagues, but there are some ways to make it work.

First things first, establish some basic communication rules. Which channels should you use for different types of messages? When can you expect a response? And most importantly, how late is too late to send messages to your colleagues?

It might seem like a no-brainer, but discussing these rules with your team is crucial to make sure everyone's boundaries are respected. Plus, you can even ask your colleagues which channels they prefer – a win-win for everyone! 🙌

Ensure everyone is on the same page so that even if you're not bumping into each other in the hallway, you can still stay in touch and keep the conversation flowing.

The strength and effectiveness of your company culture revolve around how information flows.

So if you are thinking of going remote, accept that your company culture will likely change and be sure you have a strategy in place.

It's not just about swapping your office chair for a hammock (although that's definitely a perk!). Your whole DNA has to shift to ensure everyone has access to the same, if not more, information, no matter where they are.

Be different from those co-located companies that make exceptions for remote workers but then leave them out of the communication loop. That's a recipe for disaster. If you don't change how you share information, remote workers will quickly become alienated, unhappy, and ultimately disengaged.

So, if you're ready to embrace the remote or hybrid culture, commit to it fully. Ensure you have the right strategy, tools and communication channels in place before taking the leap.

And who knows, you might just end up with a team of happy, hammock-loving remote workers who are crushing it!

Let's be honest, work can be stressful, but having a team you can rely on makes all the difference. Being part of a team built on trust is incredible!

Here are a few reasons why.

Trust allows you to work in a safe environment where speaking up is not only possible but highly encouraged. This means that you and your team members feel comfortable collaborating and taking appropriate risks without fear of judgment.

When you have a team that trusts each other, you can leverage everyone's strengths to help each other thrive in their roles. If everyone contributes to the team's success, the whole team functions better.

Let's not forget about the benefits of celebrating each other's wins! In a trusting team environment, everyone is happy for each other's successes and supports each other through the rough patches. And the meetings? They're never dull!

Because everyone is comfortable challenging each other, a lively discussion always leads to better decisions.

When you foster an environment of trust, your team will be happier, more productive, and ultimately more successful.

Do you see some of these qualities in your own team? If not, why not?

We think this quote by Stephen Covey perfectly captures the importance of engagement in achieving success. As a leader, it's not enough to simply assign tasks to team members and expect them to follow through.

Genuine commitment requires involvement from everyone in the team.

When team members are involved in the decision-making process and have a stake in the outcome, they are much more likely to be committed to the success of the project or company.

This involvement can take many forms, from brainstorming sessions to regular check-ins and feedback loops.

Leaders can tap into their unique skills and perspectives by involving team members in the process, fostering innovation and creativity. It also creates a sense of ownership and accountability, a powerful motivator.

So, as you lead your team, remember Covey's words: "Without involvement, there is no commitment."

These words hold true in all aspects of life, especially in the fast-paced business world.

Getting fired up and starting something new is easy, but it takes more than that to achieve success. Commitment is what sets successful entrepreneurs and leaders apart.

As a leader, motivating and inspiring your team is essential, but fostering a sense of commitment is equally important. Team members need commitment to maintain sight of their goals and not disengage. With it, they take ownership of their work, push through obstacles, and perform at their best.

To cultivate a sense of commitment in your team, clearly communicate your vision and involve them in planning. When team members feel valued and have a say in the company's direction, they are more likely to be committed to its success.

Motivation is just the starting point. Commitment is what drives long-term success. Foster a culture of commitment within your team, and watch productivity, engagement, and success soar.

A safe work environment directly impacts the well-being and productivity of employees. While it may seem obvious, many leaders need to consider the psychological safety of their employees.

Psychological safety is about creating an environment where employees feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas without fear of punishment or humiliation. It is necessary to foster open communication, creativity, and innovation.

As a leader, set an example of positive behaviour that aligns with the values of psychological safety.

Saying "my door is always open" or "mistakes are learning opportunities" is not enough if you don't demonstrate that through your actions.

Remember, a safe environment is not only a legal requirement but a moral one too that demonstrates good leadership. Leaders, it's our responsibility to create a workplace where everyone feels safe to speak up and share their ideas.

Motivating a team is more than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Everyone has different intrinsic motivations. So, understanding Eric Berne's Motivational Hungers model and what drives your team members can help create an environment that fosters inspiration and productivity.

For example, some team members may be motivated by structure; they need clear goals and tasks and routine processes to do their best.

Others may be motivated by acknowledgement and thrive on giving and receiving feedback. And some may be driven by a stimulus; they thrive on the exhilaration that comes from achieving a new goal or making the impossible possible.

As a leader, it's vital to understand your motivational drivers and how they align with those of your team members. By understanding and catering to the different motivations of your team members, you can create an environment that helps everyone be more intrinsically motivated.

Open and honest communication is crucial for building trust and strong relationships within a team.

At Credo Growth, we understand the importance of fostering an environment where team members feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and concerns.

For example, during a team meeting, instead of simply going through the agenda, we take time to ask team members how they are feeling and how they perceive the team's current state.

We create an environment where people can freely share their thoughts and concerns, leading to better problem-solving.

By creating a culture of transparency and honesty, we can improve team dynamics and achieve better outcomes. It also leads to a positive and productive working environment.

What is the difference between work-life balance and work-life integration?

Yes, they are related terms, but they differ significantly in their approach to balancing the demands of work and personal life.

Work-life balance refers to the idea of separating work and personal life to achieve a state of equilibrium between the two.

On the other hand, work-life integration refers to balancing and blending one's professional and personal life beneficially.

We are generally more familiar with work-life balance, but at Credo Growth, work-life integration offers a more sustainable life. Integration is about the importance of flexibility and finding the right way to work as an individual.

How do you practice work-life balance or integration? Is your approach sustainable?

See the link in the comments for a great video by Kyle Loftus, a creative entrepreneur who speaks about the practical elements of work-life integration.
