🤓 I recently began my PhD research. 📚⁠

No surprises: I'm a communications geek and my PhD will be in Information & Communication. I'll be looking into theories of natural communication and media naturalness as it relates to virtual environments, and the impact these technologies have on how we interact with each other, particularly in the workplace. ⁠
⁠
No one wants the law of unintended consequences to come and bite us in the bottom as we quietly enjoy the metaverse in the years to come, now, do we? My wish is that my research helps us avoid this. ⁠

It's an incredible privilege to study for a PhD and spend time researching a niche I'm so passionate about. It's not going to be easy (especially with full time work, sitting on boards, trying to be a decent mum and wife, and expecting my second child in April), but it'll be an exciting journey that I'm already thoroughly enjoying!

When was the last time you had a conversation that had your mind racing with possibilities, so much so that you couldn't sleep? 😴

A lot of the time we might remember being kept awake by a conversation for bad reasons.

But when you think about it, the reason you found it hard to sleep was because it struck you emotionally.

I have a goal of having more positive conversations that keep me up, so I aim to surround myself with people and discussions that provide that magic spark. 🌟
