Anyone who deals with their own emotional world will sooner or later come across the concept of projection. It originally comes from psychoanalysis. Within the framework of this theory, projection is a defence mechanism.
If feelings, thoughts, desires, or character traits arise that frighten us, it can happen that a defence mechanism comes into play: Because it would be too uncomfortable to own these thoughts or feelings, we unconsciously project them onto someone else.

Life Alignment is an amazing tool to bypass the conscious and unconscious projections that play out in our relationships. We use the ‘Questions during balancing’ list, which side steps the conventional step by step ideas of therapy around projections. And can quickly transport the client out of their personal drama, into a space where they are able to observe their reactions - such as frustration or anger. It creates a safe space to get in touch with the inner realm thus creating a place for inner and outer healing as well as cleaning the lenses we use to investigate the world.

For example, the question ‘Change polarity’ gets our clients to see things from another point of view, rather than be locked into their own perspective. Also, less obvious questions like, ‘Connection with Higher Self, deceased person, guide, teacher, diva, animal guide etc’ I have found immensely useful when working with clients who are struggling to step out of their projections. For a profound moment, they can see things from a higher, more neutral point of view. A Life Alignment session has a sustainable effect on the client because it works with the autonomic nervous system. What might have triggered our sympathetic nervous system and put us in fight and flight, can be reconnected to the parasympathetic parts of our nervous system. This is the difference I was mentioning earlier between reacting and responding. The LA Balance reintroduces a healthier alternative to a restricted reality.

How do projections influence our lives?

Projections are our subjective truth. None of us see the world in exactly the same way - how could we? From the point of view of the counseling , we only deal with the negative aspects of projections, the parts that come from old wounds that still have an energetic charge. But there are usually positive projections working reasonably well in our lives, until they don’t. For example, in a loving relationship we see things through the filter of love, and it is quite common for each party to struggle to see the other as ‘bad’ in any way. This will serve the relationship for a while, until something happens that shatters that illusion. Then the couple are left with a choice, to accept the truth of their relationship or move on.
Another example of a positive projection often happens between a client and therapist, as the client gives themselves over to the expected expertise of the therapist, which in turn allows the therapist to deeply explore the inner-world of the client, and help where they can.
Some projections can be consciously agreed to between partners. Which in normal therapy is no longer called a projection, it becomes a contract. But that contract is essentially a projection, an expectation that is projected onto the other. Such as the expectation that the other person will ‘always have my back’, which both parties can work hard to support, and will potentially develop into a support system for both of them.

Mostly we see the result of toxic projections when we interact with the outside world. We usually see it in hindsight when we have an unexplained angry reaction with others, or someone else has a similar unexplained reaction with us, and we are left wondering what happened.

Simply put, they are the filters we see the world through. They are unconscious expectations and beliefs regarding the outside world, often based on past experiences - childhood patterns, past lives, and key encounters.
We all have projections. However, we are not always aware of them. Projections are constantly gathered through our experiences and expectations of Self and others, our insecurities, our beliefs, our fears and our joys. Projections are happening on autopilot. The more we practise to understand our reactions to certain people’s behaviour, rather than trying to understand their motivations, the greater our chance to catch our own projections. This is how we learn to respond to situations rather than reacting to them.

That’s why I am so passionate about self-development and the modality of Life - and Business Alignment. It enables us to look at our thoughts, emotions and actions that are causing discomfort and chaos in our lives and helps to identify if projections are initiating them. Life Alignment is an amazing tool to bypass the conscious and unconscious projections

Projections are happening all the time. They exist in all our personal beliefs about our life roles in business and personal relationships. On top of it other people project their expectations and stories onto us about those same roles. Can you see how diluted and subjective this can get? For instance, there will be projections between a husband and wife as to their roles in the relationship. There are projections between friends, depending on what they expect from their relationship with each other. Do we not all know examples such as a friend calling you saying they can’t come over tonight, because they are exhausted from work? This could easily trigger old wounds from childhood, around abandonment, betrayal and a sense of low self-worth. Something the friend had no intention of triggering, they were simply (and rightfully so) thinking of their own needs: Too tired to come over.

Dealing with trigger systems is more like a journey, than a quick fix.

Nothing people do is actually about you

Anyone who deals with their own emotional world will sooner or later come across the concept of projection. It originally comes from psychoanalysis. Within the framework of this theory, projection is a defence mechanism.
If feelings, thoughts, desires, or character traits arise that frighten us, it can happen that a defence mechanism comes into play: Because it would be too uncomfortable to own these thoughts or feelings, we unconsciously project them onto someone else.

Understanding projections allows you to understand your fears better. Most of your thoughts, feelings and reactions when you meet certain types of people for example, are not coming from your authentic Self. What really happens is that you encounter what you projected to happen, because of similar experiences coming from your past.

Life Alignment helps you to get in touch with your own, usually suppressed, shadow-self and the vulnerable child within that was scared to be around other people. Additionally, understanding projections helps you to see other people much better, knowing everyone is struggling with their own inner stories which have nothing to do with you.
In fact, hardly anything people do is actually about you. Really holding on to this knowledge frees you from constantly trying to see the subtext in every encounter.

How to identify distractions and become more present.

It is a matter of awareness. It is very easy to disappear down the rabbit hole and get stuck down there! With my Life-and Business Alignment tools, we can bring an awareness to whatever is happening – the bad, as well as the good. Doing a body scan to see where the stress is caught in the body, and then breathe deeply with intention to bring energy, peace, and calm into that area. Breath and feelings of stillness are very connected. We have to practice presence, like everything else, it gets stronger with practice!

What is the consequence of not being present and what can we do to be a possible version of ourselves?

Each new day brings with it an important choice: either we fill it with our best or we allow it to slip away. There is no other option—the hours are going to pass anyway. Choosing to work hard (whether in your profession or working hard at relaxation, social engagements or spending time with your loved ones) makes the most of these hours.
Be aware of how much more productive you are when fully engaged in a task. Compare this with trying to squeeze multiple things into one period of time or dividing your energy on three different projects.
To be the best possible version of yourself, you need to learn how to be more present; forget about how you think things should be and accept them for what they are.
Soak in as much of today as you possibly can – the sights, the sounds, the smells, the emotions, the triumph, and the sorrow. These are in our daily lives, but we often forget to take them in and truly appreciate them.

How does "present me" make any decisions and plans for "future me"?

Where is that fine line between not making plans about the future and living too much in the future?

We can still be in the present even if we’re making plans for the future. We have to plan ahead, otherwise nothing will get done. We need a Business vision in order to know how the mission in the present moment looks like. We have to do this consciously, and not wait for the Universe to decide our fate. This is making empowered choices for our lives and careers. We make decisions with the knowledge, insight and wisdom we’ve gained from past experience, with the fluidity to adapt to circumstances should they arise. Don’t get stuck in the “when this happens, then that will…”. Don’t allow dreaming about tomorrow to replace living in the moment. Dreaming about the future is only productive when combined with action taken today!
We all spend time in the future and the past. That's natural and healthy. But it should be a visit, not an extended stay. If we are stuck in the past, we can’t enjoy the present moment.
Be present in the planning of the future. Don’t wish away the present but use the present to plan intelligently for the future. Time is a precious commodity. Don’t mentally rush through it or wish it away. In the slower moments of life, being present in the moment will increase your appreciation and relaxation in them, as opposed to anxiety or depression if your mind is focused elsewhere in time.

By clearing the past, we can be more present and by building trust and confidence we can be in harmony with the flow of the future. This is what Life Alignment is all about – clearing the issues or traumas from our childhood, or issues that no longer serve us, so that we can make our present-day decisions and life choices not influenced by the past.

You don’t have to stop thinking or planning for the future – just don’t live there.

Depression and regrets indicate we are living in the past and anxiety indicates that we are living in the future. With so many people suffering from these afflictions, the quest for a healthier life is ever more necessary.

Living in the NOW is easier said than done, right? It is difficult to realise when we are not in the moment. You’re sitting on your couch, watching a movie while eating crisps, scrolling through your phone, and listening to your partner talk while you're thinking about a task that you need to do tomorrow. Only later do you realise you didn’t quite understand the movie, remember the flavour of the snack, nor hear what your partner said. On top of it you certainly don’t feel relaxed or rejuvenated.
We are constantly surrounded by distractions, making it difficult to focus on just one thing at a time. Multitasking, thinking about the past and worrying about the future can make it difficult to enjoy the good things in your life. Living in the moment, although difficult, benefits your relationships, productivity, and, most importantly, overall wellness.

How to become more present?

Being a Life Alignment practitioner means that we learn the necessary tools to assist our clients to be less stuck in the past or future. The Practitioner will identify body points and relevant emotions that are then worked on. By clearing the past, we can be more present and by building trust and confidence we can be in harmony with the flow of the future. This is what LA is all about – clearing the issues or traumas from our childhood, or issues that no longer serve us, so that we can make our present-day decisions and life choices not influenced by the past. This is also very relevant for your career and business decision. The process brings us fully into our true nature, in connection with what is right for us now. This, of course, changes constantly, depending on our circumstances and life situations and we know that nothing is permanent, life is fluid and we have to be flexible with what is, and what comes up for us.

Why is it so important to be present?

Experience Joy and Fulfilment: When we focus on the present, we become fully engaged with our experiences, relationships, and surroundings. We practice focussing on the present by ensuring that we monotask. Meditation and breathing techniques are also tools that we can use.
Reduce Stress and Anxiety: Much of our stress and anxiety stems from ruminating over the past or worrying about the future. The present moment offers a respite from these concerns. By shifting our attention to the now, we can alleviate stress, calm our minds, and find a sense of inner peace.
Enhance Relationships: Being present in our interactions with others allows us to truly connect and listen. It helps us understand others more deeply, respond with empathy, and foster meaningful connections. By giving our full attention to the present moment, we can nurture and strengthen our relationships.
Improve Mental Clarity and Focus: When we live in the present, our minds are not clouded by regrets or anxieties. This clarity of mind allows us to make better decisions, improve concentration, and enhance productivity. We can fully immerse ourselves in tasks and activities, leading to greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Embrace Change and Adaptability: The present moment is the only place where we have the power to act and make a difference. By focusing on the now, we become more adaptable and responsive to the ever-changing circumstances of life. We can let go of regrets and embrace new opportunities with openness and resilience.
And lastly: explore practical techniques to incorporate mindfulness into your everyday routine and experience a more vibrant and fulfilling life. A Life Alignment balance really helps with this.

Business Growth:

Jeff Levin introduced Organisation Alignment during the financial crisis in 2008.

Right now, communities – whether big business, non-profit organisations, government departments, one man shows are in a new era of less personal contact with colleagues and clients and more virtual contact. This was a growing trend with the onset of faster and more available internet speeds, but the recent pandemic really entrenched this virtual community model. This has opened up new ways of collaborations, communications and connections, especially in the business world.

With Business Alignment, the re-alignment to a Business Vision from all who touch the organisation, the staff, the clients, the suppliers, the contractors, the investors, the advisors means that the modality of Life Alignment ‘touches’ all aspects of a business, bypassing the ego-mind.

I have been in General Management and Counselling for many years, I love economy and entrepreneurship - guiding business owners and their teams towards personal and monetary success. However, there is not one single solution for all. Change is very individual and can be a very sensitive matter. The entire world is in radical transformation right now and the Business Alignment process creates a very safe space for all kinds of growth & transformation.

When is a good moment to introduce OA to a business, team or project?

For startups it should be from the moment that the idea is formed, even when the entrepreneur is still in his previous job. For other businesses, anytime is a good time, but particularly when there is a change of process. People are often scared of change, but Business Alignment creates a space to help the process and identify the right manifestations, modalities and potential blockages.

How do you enable employees or yourself to be not only productive, but loyal? Engaged, but not stressed out? Collaborative and communicative, but also focused and assertive? How do you keep the vision and motivation for your business or project? When is it time to implement change and when to be brave and courageous? In the new always-on culture of work, stress continues to grow, and it’s not just the body that needs a shift, but an Organisation as well.

There are new ways to approach growth and transformation in a business. Organisation Alignment helps business owners of all kinds to be on track with the accelerating changes in the world. This can result in greater strategic thinking, planning and proactiveness rather than a reactive stance – leading to more freedom and empowerment in accomplishing goals for the highest good.

“Organisation Alignment looks at a business as an inseparable and interconnected whole, taking into consideration all its dimensions and elements. This is a very effective, new approach to help companies and projects move successfully into the future, and as a means of discovering where increased flow is needed.”

What is the difference between Business Alignment and conventional Business Consulting?

Business Alignment is the connection with subtle energy and universal, often unconscious, guidance. Exactly what I needed to add to my conventional business consulting, which I continue to love to do, just with a unique and holistic approach. It is a natural progression from Life Alignment to Business Alignment, treating the different functions of an organisation in much the same way as the parts of a body. Conventional Business Consulting is a very conscious approach and they work beautifully together.
