One Level, One Colour.

I love it when potential tripping spots are made safer with contrasts and colours.

The change in levels where walkways meet driveways on a sloping property can be very dangerous fall areas, especially little steps.

As shown in the image, it is helpful that the vertical bits are all the same colour. This way your peripheral visual clues cleverly tell your brain that the rise of the step is part of the vertical plastered wall.

The contrast in the brick pavers also gives a perception clue that the levels are different. Many builders would try and match the bricks, but with all the shadows of these adjacent buildings moving throughout the day this would have created a prime falling spot.

Well done for creating an environment safe for seniors and those of us with confusing vision. Design can cure disability.

A vacancy exists at Cape Town Association for the Physically Disabled (a non-profit social development organization) for a full-time Senior Social Worker/Supervisor

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a social worker
• Valid registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions
• Valid driver’s license

The position requires someone with strong managerial skills, confidence, determination and the ability to lead a team in a non-profit environment.

Impostor Syndrome is real.

In fact, it is one of the most common challenges I engage with as a mentor and coach - and also on a personal level.

Beyond the obvious impacts of creating self-doubt, risk aversion and unnecessary anxiety, one of the most pervasive ripple effects of Impostor Syndrome, is a hesitation to have an opinion.

"What if I sound stupid?" "Why would they listen to me?" "They probably know this already..."

The truth is, there is NO substitute for experience. All the degrees and qualifications in the world pale into insignificance when held against the School of Life. Your failures and successes - and the lessons that accompanied them - are your real superpower.

This is the reason why, in my experience, entrepreneurs make better mentors than corporate CEOs. It is also why third-generation township entrepreneurs with only a matric to their name, are often more successful than MBA graduates.

Own your wisdom, leverage your true-life experiences and always, always make a contribution - even when you are not sure if it is valid or not.
