A tribute to a coach supervisor, Sally.

A few years ago, I lost my long-term coach supervisor suddenly.
The shock was profound — personally and professionally.
She was the person who held my toughest cases, challenged my blind
spots, sharpened my ethical thinking, and consistently helped me see
the leader beneath the armour.

Her absence reminded me of something we don’t say often enough in
our profession:
coaches also need a place where they are seen, stretched, and held
to account.

This post is a quiet acknowledgement of the supervisors and mentors
who shape our practice — often invisibly — and whose influence
continues long after they’re gone.

Supervision matters.

Lineage matters.

And gratitude, expressed, matters too.

It’s a time of year when many leaders think they’re “regressing.”

They’re not. They’re tired. The world is shifting.
Year-end has a particular flavour:

➡️ Cognitive overload
➡️ Heavy delivery pressure
➡️ Global uncertainty humming in the background
➡️ A quiet expectation to finish strong
What I’m seeing in coaching right now isn’t failure.
It’s depletion.
Old patterns reappear. Confidence dips. Gains feel distant.
Not because the work didn’t land — but because the nervous system is stretched thin.
This is not a moment for breakthroughs.
It’s a moment for remembering.
In sessions lately, I’m inviting clients to look back — in order to look forward.
Not with nostalgia. With honesty.
Questions like:
• What had shifted when things felt steadier?
• What capacity is simply offline due to exhaustion — not broken?
• What would “good enough leadership” look like for the next two weeks?
• What truth from this year do I refuse to abandon?
Here’s the paradox:
The fact that you notice the dip usually means the learning stuck.
Nothing has been lost.
It’s temporarily inaccessible.
So if you’re feeling flatter, foggier, or less resourced than usual —
this isn’t the time to push harder.
Stand still long enough to remember who you became this year.
Carry that forward — lightly.
January will take care of itself.

Coach Supervision isn’t an add-on.
It’s the spine of our practice — the place where we slow the pulse, debrief the edges, untangle the shadows, and return to our clients with cleaner mirrors and steadier hands.
In a world obsessed with performance and outcomes, supervision is the radical act of stepping out of speed and into truth.
This month, I’m sharing a short series on the value of coach supervision —
how it refines us, restores us, and keeps our work both ethical and deeply human.
Because every coach deserves a place where they, too, can exhale. Contact me now to schedule your sacred session

The universe has three answers for you. "Yes!" "Not yet." or "I have something better in store for you."

Keep a growth mindset about everything. There's always a bigger picture in play.

I was blown away by results of training managers on Coaching skills recently ! It got me thinking about a trend I read about, replacing managers with coaches. Outcomes include significant benefits in employee engagement, productivity, and job satisfaction. Train your team with Coaching skills to change the game!

"Who we are is how we lead." - Brené Brown | Dare to Lead

Leadership is not just about guiding others; it's about embodying the values we wish to instil. As a coach, I strive to lead by example, knowing that my actions and character shape the environment for growth and trust. Brené Brown reminds us that authenticity and vulnerability are at the core of effective leadership. When we align our true selves with our mission, we inspire those we guide to embrace their own journeys with courage and integrity.
