I often think of social media as a neighbourhood.
You wouldn’t move into a street, put up a sign saying BUY FROM ME, and then never speak to anyone around you.
You’d say hello.
You’d join conversations.
You’d support other people.
You’d become familiar.
Social media works much the same way.
Businesses that only post and disappear are broadcasting. Businesses that engage, respond and participate are building relationships.
So perhaps the question isn’t only:
“What should we post today?”
It’s also:
“Are we being a good neighbour?”
