Job description:
We are looking for experienced vessel and offshore security staff in support of alluvial mining operations in Southern Africa. Candidates will be required to manage a comprehensive security management system on-board an alluvial mining vessel. Details as follows:
Mandatory/pre-requisites:
• At least 5 years military or police experience.
• Preferred maritime security experience or have served within a small team high security environment.
• PSIRA Registration (only Grade A & B will be considered).
• Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) or Offshore Survival Equivalent.
• Standards of Training and Watchkeeping (STCW 95) (All 4 modules preferred).
• Seafarer’s Medical.
• Offshore Medical.
• Dental Clearance.
• Seaman’s Discharge Book.
• Medical Qualification (FPOS Intermediate standard and above preferred)
• NEBOSH qualification (desirable not mandatory).
Attributes required:
• Mental alacrity, and a can-do approach to work.
• Computer literacy skills and knowledge of technical security systems (CCTV, electronic access control, search equipment and electronic incident recording/reporting applications).
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
• Capable of compiling comprehensive event and incident reports.
• Strong team work and leadership skills.
• Must be trustworthy and professional, and place extreme importance on confidentiality (extensive screening process will be conducted prior to selection and periodically during employment).
• Awareness of external influences, such as legislation within legal, national and HSSE frameworks.
NOTE: This position is on a rotational basis and personnel are expected to provide security services for up to 8 weeks at a time.
