Security Guard Supervisor
Reports To
Security Manager / Operations Manager
Job Summary
The Security Guard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of security personnel to ensure the safety and security of people, property, equipment, and premises. The supervisor ensures that all guards perform their duties professionally, comply with company procedures, and maintain high standards of discipline and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage security guards during assigned shifts.
Conduct regular patrols and inspections of the premises.
Ensure all security procedures and site instructions are followed.
Monitor access control, visitor management, and incident reporting.
Respond to emergencies, incidents, alarms, and disturbances promptly.
Investigate incidents and prepare accurate reports.
Schedule guards and manage shift allocations.
Train and mentor security personnel on procedures and performance standards.
Ensure guards are properly dressed and equipped.
Liaise with clients, management, law enforcement, and emergency services when required.
Conduct handovers and daily briefings with security staff.
Monitor CCTV systems and other security equipment where applicable.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and relevant legislation.
Address staff misconduct and performance issues where necessary.
Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric certificate. ( Grade 11 if suitable experience)
Valid PSIRA registration.
Previous experience in security operations and supervision.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to handle conflict and emergency situations professionally.
Good report-writing and administrative skills.
Knowledge of security procedures and access control systems.
Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Computer literacy is advantageous.
Valid Driver’s licence
Handgun competency an advantage
