Buildings older than 60 years- Heritage Buildings
All buildings older than 60 years subject to a building activity require a study or report referred to as a Heritage Statement. In listed and or declared buildings a more substantive report is required- a Heritage Impact Assessment. The above also applies to developments that exceed 5000 sq. m.
When buildings or sites are being declared a Conservation Management Plan is required.
As a Built Heritage Specialist with experience at Provincial and National level, working on an extensive portfolio of sites prescribing, assisting management authorities, I am able to assist in respect of the above.
in addition I am engaged at community level in heritage identification and local economic development centered around built forms, cultural heritage and Indigenous Knowledge related to built forms.
I hold a Master of City and Regional Planning and a Master of Philosophy (Conservation of the Built Environment) both from UCT.
I work both as an individual and as part of a formal company, Cynosure Tectonics for governmental tendering purposes. I am willing to work in consortium, cooperation and association.
