To start 2026 off, I had the pleasure of designing and facilitating an interactive online learning session this week for Encona - Academy, Production, Consulting, Platforms, with participants joining from the USA, South Africa, Canada, and Taiwan as part of an annual session held with their internationally based Facilitators.

The session was intentionally interactive, including an interest-teaser sent a day before the session, and short, focused interactions and conversations woven through the content. This allowed participants - all seasoned training facilitators - to reflect, share perspectives, and actively shape the session in real time.

What stood out once again is how much learning has evolved in today’s world. Technology gives us reach, speed, and scale, but it does not replace what people fundamentally need to experience...
human interaction, reflection, and connection - especially in our increasing "disconnect" being experienced by so many.

Facilitators today are not just content-holders. We are space-holders, designing experiences where people can think together, learn from one another, and make meaning - and feel a renewed sense of purpose - that actually sticks.

Thank you to and the participants for the energy, insight, and openness you brought into the room across time zones and continents... as always, I learnt something new myself, as I do with every group I have the privilege of interacting with!

I work with organisations across industries to develop the human skills that sit underneath performance... communication, emotional intelligence, facilitation, leadership presence, client engagement skills, and decision-making under pressure.

Sessions are practical, interactive, time-aware, and deliberately human-centred, designed to translate learning directly into how people lead, collaborate, and work with colleagues and clients - delivered both in person and online.

12 Days before Christmas...

As the year starts to wrap up, I wanted to bring something meaningful and real to Facebook. It’s been a tough year for many, and through my work with Level Ground Consulting, I’ve seen just how hard people have been fighting to stay hopeful and steady.

So for the “12 Days Before Christmas,” I’ll be sharing one original Level Ground quote each day - handwritten from real stories of resilience, purpose and everything life has thrown at us, and that I have had the privilege of being entrusted with by clients, friends and acquaintances this year.

Much of the work I have been involved in this year, has been linked to incredible community social initiatives, including a Medical Research Foundation-funded project, focused on improving collaboration across health and social services for adolescents mothers in South Africa. This project drew on findings of the HEY BABY https://lnkd.in/dXFP3cJg research study.

It started earlier this year, when I was asked by a researcher from the Department of Social Policy and Intervention at Oxford University ( https://www.spi.ox.ac.uk/ ) , Dr Janina Jochim, to assist with the planning and facilitation of a collaboration workshop, titled "On the Right Track," held in East London, South Africa (where the ground team of field workers for HeyBaby is based). It was there that my eyes were truly opened to just how much informative research, care and work goes on in the background of our beautiful country.

From that collaborative workshop, there have been numerous extensions of the outcomes, including an invitation to some "On the Right Track" team members to a meeting with the Education Department, as well as a dissemination of the valuable collaboration tools that were developed as a result of that workshop in May.

This week, I had the privilege of helping organise and assist with a meeting with the Cape Town leg of their dissemination of these collaboration tools.
A "Think Tank" at the DGMT building in Claremont, kindly hosted by EMBRACE https://lnkd.in/dByXjvPY, was held, where Western Cape attendees from various community programmes heard more about the "On the Right Track" programme, asked questions, and held some truly REAL and raw conversations about the topic (in this case, centred around young mothers, teenage pregnancy and child development). They also left with copies of the tools developed in May, handed over by Lulama Sidloyi and Mildred Thabeng, who are an integral part of the Oxford SA team.

Having always had the activism urge in me, I consider myself privileged to have been involved in part, in this kind of work.

Never underestimate what is going on, often quietly unseen, in this beautiful country. Although we certainly have extreme challenges in some areas, there are INCREDIBLE programmes, research studies and hard work being done out there to ease some of the challenges and build more hope. 🇿🇦
