C.F.S Risk Consultants was founded in November 2010 after its founding member served the Fire/ Health and Safety Industry since 1982 under the banner of the State, Local Authorities and finally the Private Industry. The Founder of this company has gained valuable experience over the past 28 years and has witnessed the growth in the values and change of mindset; employers have placed in the safety

of their employees and their responsibilities towards health and safety. The Company prides itself on the quality it provides, offering a full range of fire/ health and safety specialist services including Company and Property Audits and Reports, Production of Documentation, Risk Assessments, Training, Site Inspections, Company Legal Compliancy Audits in the construction, industrial, educational, institutional and corporate industry , OHS Project Management and General Advice. The Company offers a superior, pro-active health and safety service based on three main tenets:

That fire, health and safety procedures must be properly defined and responsibilities ascribed. That in order for an individual to properly discharge his responsibility, he should be trained to do so. That there should be a monitoring procedure in place to ensure that the practice matches the policy.

Well it is getting to that time of the year when the builders holiday is around the corner. this has been one of the most difficult years for the construction industry and many other industries with the national lock down closing many businesses for months and people loosing their employ due to retrenchments as the SA Economy has taken a severe blow especially with the junk status grading.
I urge all construction sites to still adhere to safety protocols with regards to health and safety and also to adhere to Covid 19 protocols. Lets all head into this builders holiday with a sigh of relief and enjoy it. Lets get back next year with a positive outlook and I know that it will definitely be a better 2021 for all. Yours in safety.

It is that time of the year when the building industry will be closing down for the builders holidays. We as safety consultants would like to urge all builders to be cautious this time of the year as we know that the developers will push you to your limit to get certain things done before the shut down period. Do not rush things as that is when the safety issues on site take a back step which in most cases result in unnecessary incidents occurring on these sites. Be safe and enjoy the holidays.

We as safety consultants or even agents are now challenged with the application for a Works permit from the D.o.L.
However their requirements are very exhaustive and there is only 1 staack member who deals with these applications. As from August 2018 the monatory value of the Project is drppping from R40 million to R13 million.
This is definitely going to put a serious strain on the Construction industry. There will be loss of employment as most clients will nor
be able to build in this extra expense to postpone Projects so that this rule can be implemented
Most feedbacks received from clients and prospective developers was very negative. Most have intimated that this is a waste of increments and future investments in Developments.
A serious relook at this must be done as the normal plan approval system by the local authorities and provincial government is all ready delaying most Developments in SA and Western Cape. This creates a serious loss in job creation and also Capital loss due to penalties which will indirectly affect the building industry.
Hope to get some proffesionmal opinions on the Construction industry subject.
